Even more reason to make it out to my house one day...I have WT 8/101 juice from 1978,79,80,81,82 open and ready for sampling! :D

Yeah. I might actually need to bring my jammies...

It's all the Pb that makes it so tasty.

Ha, yeah that seems to be the general consensus!

Started with a pour of 1789b OWA #6 and now I'm following that up with a Julio's JRPS 18yr unchill filtered...I have a feeling it's gonna be a wheater night. :)

Finished off a bottle of Russell's Reserve tonight. Still in space-clearing mode.

Joey busted his arse this week, but it was worth it. So, ER 101 Frankfort is turning out to be a nice pour this evening, sittin' out by the outdoor fireplace. A little sprinkle is fallin' from the sky, but I'm under the big umbrella, and high n dry...Got a little CAO La Traviata Maduro goin'...sheltie is remarkably quiet while chasing shadows...for a change ...Gotta a good mojo goin', while contemplating what goes in my glass next.

I started out with my usual Old Fitz BIB, then VOB BIB - both are always reliable. Now, taking a cue from another thread, I hauled out my '07 Stagg, filled the Glencairn to the widest point, and added a tablespoon of water.

Mmmmmmm. Just dynamite - an explosion of spice and sweet, wrapped in smoke. Too bad there aren't many pours left in that bottle.

Was planning on taking tonight off following an unexpected rough Thursday night, Founders Double Trouble was flowing all to well at the local watering hole. But, it is Friday, so I poured a small amount of the blend. This was from the first batch where I vatted a smaller amount from already opened bottles. Absolutely incredible for what works out to be about $23 a bottle. Time and patience is key with the blend.

I'm always looking for an excuse to break out the good stuff, but on a typical Friday after an easy day at work I settled for Eagle Rare 10 yr...ER and I have a love/hate relationship. Tonight we enjoyed each others company...

The Beam Blend: a 1:1 vatting of Devil's Cut and Kirkland Small Batch. It's surprisingly good and almost makes me want to replace the DC when it's gone. Almost ...

Last night had a pour of PHC 11". Nice pour but a little boring. PHC 10' is way more complex and interesting. Followed up with couple of glasses of 4R SB - barrel strength OBSV from warehouse KE. Great stuff. Lots of familiar fruit and carmelly apples. ( I know carmelly is not a word but that's what it tastes like!)

I bought an Old Taylor 1/10 pint mini bottle on eBay a few days ago. Don't know an exact age but:

1/10 pint, 86 proof(no % labeled), red tax strip, marked "state of florida liquor excise tax" on the side

Initial aroma, sugary sweetness, butterscotch, creamy, no real spice-flavor much the same, thick, rich mouthfeel

10 minutes, 2 tiny drips of water- now there is a little spice, still rich and sweet, but spice builds and lingers, relatively long finish with a wintergreen sensation. Unique, very enjoyable.

I had an older WSR mini bottle on New Year's Eve, different style, but had the same mouth coating richness. What is it with these older bourbons, even lower proof ones, that they are so rich?

A little time to myself this afternoon afforded me the opportunity for a rather long (for me) pour of BT. Followed up this evening with Knob Creek paired with a Bolivar Fuerte Cigar. And now, not wanting to waste complexity on my somewhat deadened palate, I will round out my day with a Jim Beam Black nightcap.

Followed my Old Taylor with a very healthy pour of JPS 17 batch 5. Haven't poured from this bottle in awhile, that was a mistake. It is an incredible pour, and the open bottle is improving.

For the gazillionth time, I'm enjoying a nice, neat, pour of Maker's Mark.

There's not a lot of things that I can enjoy after a gazillion times...Maker's Mark is one of them, though.

One of these days...one of these days...we jaded enthusiasts will truly recognize the brilliance of this whiskey.

I had some MM at the bowling alley last night during the third game. Cosmic tumblers must have clicked. I shot 278.

Old Potrero Hotalings - lemon citrus and barley, even though there is no barley

WTRB - disgusting; tasted like hickory wood. I had it at another bar two weeks ago and it was fine, so I'm guessing it's variability between batches

1983 Old Forester BIB - quite simply one of the best bourbons I've ever had. I have an '88 86 proof at home, but this had almost no resemblance. It was like WT but with a greater depth of flavor, and a finish that continued strong instead of falling apart.

Finishing up my first pour (ever) of Bulleit Rye. This definitely goes on my "would buy again" list. It starts out with honey sweetness, then shifts to a moderate spicy tone, and then shifts again to a slight wintergreen finish before fading out.

Now on to OGD BIB. This has more of a corn sweetness, but the rye spice storms in, then drops back and mingles with the sweetness. It's nice to bring back an old favorite...

Started out with some Ritt BIB, moved on to EW BIB, and wrapped up the night with ORVW 10/107. Good night, everyone!
