So, you fell for the old "cute girl giving out shots trick", huh? Yeah, that's why I'm the proud owner of 9 cases of Bourbon Supreme... Of course my girl needed the money to pay for her sick grandma's operation...

PHC Cognac Barrel Finished and 4R SB. The 4R SB was only 29.99. I would have picked up a couple more if I had not just come across the PHC. To be honest I have not had much interest in this PHC. I have heard pretty good reviews about it but I have only seen it for around $100 before. It was at a store I had been to 10 times in the last 6 months and was $79. So I thought I would give it a shot. It will probably sit in the bunker for a while until I finish some others.

PIcked up a Saz 18, Ritt 21yr, Vintage 21 rye, PHC Golden Ann and a store botled EC 18yr that is actually 21yr, or so I'm told. Had my heart set on some Weller 12yr, but when none was to be had, I found some of these to console myself.

Plus a trade for a HW 21yr. Really looking forward to this one, the sample taste of this one was really surprising for a product of this vintage. Used barrels for american whiskey really is a untapped potential-somebody really could put something interesting out there with given some time.

Just a bottle of Bulleit today. What I find weird about this is that it appears to be priced in similiar way to the US. According to Binny's, it costs $29.99 a bottle. It costs around $40 here - seems fair considering the cost of shipping and distribution. We get a lessor proof (80 proof) and it is bottled in England (?) though it is a nice drop. I know price is impacted by a number of factors, but consider this - a bottle of Old Grand Dad 114 is $25.99 on the Binny's website. It costs $99.00 a bottle here.

Mat, always a pleasure to meet up with you. Like we talked yesterday, it would be nice to get the dinner or something together and really have a chance to stalk things over. I'd certainly be willing to offer up a tasting flight of the three Ritt's, or even the PHC 1-5 release-granted, I only have one of three of the first release, but who's complaining.

If that doesn't get somebody interested I'm not sure what would.

As to the Weller, I'll just have to console myself with one of the other's. :grin:

But the tasting of the EC will have to be on hold for a bit, my minor congestion yesterday moved to raging today. Not going to be fully tasting anything for a couple of days. :smiley_acbt: But the little sample I had yesterday was pretty pleasing. And so was the Shackleton, never been much of a scotch fan, but that one I could see myself getting into. Great lingering finish and taste. A really well crafted marriage of malts.

And meeting Steve was a treat too!

Went in to pick up my recently arrived Jefferson's 10 year rye...and figured I should bring some playmates home to go with him:

2x Willet Straight Rye - 5 year, 110 proof

1x BT - I was running low

1x Carpano Antica 1L - I always have this in the house.

1x Cardamaro - crazy Italian amaro...I've really gotten into amaros as they provide great counterbalances to rye's spiciness when making cocktails. This is an interesting one, similiar in taste to carpano antica vermouth, but a bit thinner and more palate forward. Good gamble for $19.

If you live in LA, K&L is the ONLY place to go.

Picked up a bottle of High West Double Rye at a tasting in Northwest DC tonight. Absolutely fantastic stuff, and it has replaced the Beam Ri1 as my favorite rye whiskey...no I haven't tried any of the Sezarac stuff yet, just not available around here. But this one seriously blows the Ri1, Bulleit, Beam, Old Overholt, and Pikesville ryes I've enjoyed out of the water, no question whatsoever.

I had reason to make a road trip yesterday for family business and was able to scout a couple stores I've never been to before.

First store - 3 Weller 12's which were all they had left. I've been dry on these for some time since they aren't getting restocked locally. Score!

Second store - nothing interesting but still happy I had my W12's. I see they have EWSB2001 but no big deal - I almost move on, but for some reason I decide to move the bottle in front to check the rest behind it. EWSB2000!! And another, and another - 3x 2000's before the last bottle in line, another 2001. So score 3x EWSB2000's!

I know it's not much compared to some of the other finds on here, but I came home with the warm glow that I had successfully hunted and gathered!
