1.75L of Weller 12 for $32.

I'm all over that. Great price on a very nice pour.

What's holding you back???

I would buy several at that price. The 750ml has been up to 29.99 around here.

A store in Brooklyn has the entire VW Spring release in stock (minus the Rye obviously): selling the 15 at $109.99, 20 at $139.99 and 23 at $279.99.

All certainly well below eBay prices and in line with the cost of living here, but with taxes at 8.875%, I thought it to be a little too much.

And now my search begins :)

Weller 12 @ $28.99 - was thinking about it given the HW disclosures, but the shelf was well stocked. Maybe this weekend I'll give it another look ...

I walked into a store I've been wanting to check out recently and was very surprised at their selection but the prices we're outrageous so I had to pass all these up

ORVW 90/107 - $85,$95

VW Lot B - $99

PVW23 - $400

Every BTAC - $184.50 each.

I was hoping to get the ORVW but at $95 there was no way!

Good decision on walking away. Not worth it at this prices.

Pretty sure this was the same place I went to and posted about about a page back. Was it in Williamsburg on Bedford?

For anyone with experience, did I mess up by not grabbing the Willett Bourbons?

I don't know much about the 14 but the 17 is pretty good. As far as mess up, depends. I have also passed on nice stuff because it wasn't what I was looking for. Not sure what price for Willett's but looks like you got some pretty good ones as well.

Age-stated Willets are never a guarantee of where the juice came from. I bought a few of the 17yo Willets from a TPS barrel after I had a taste from an amazing 17yo Willet at a bar. The bar's bottle had this gorgeous, scintillating rye finish, but the TPS juice did not have that. In fact, I learned after I purchased a few of them that it was wheated, so indeed very different from what was in the bottle at the bar.

Turns out it's one of the best wheated whiskies I've ever had, besting the PHC wheater in richness and mouthfeel and at least equaling it in succulent cherry wood.

But my point is that KBD can sell two barrels of 17yo bourbon distilled in two different distilleries from two different mashbills and the label will look the same other than the specifics of proof and barrel number. So who knows what you passed up?!

Oh, and my bottles were $100. For $110, I'd check out the 17yo (if I happened to be flush). Not sure about the 14yo.

Exactly, have to pay attention to barrel #s. I have the TPS 17, excellent bourbon!

As do I. I wish I had picked up a few more after trying it but didn't pull the trigger and now its gone.

I kept wavering while there was plenty. Then bought my bottle when they were down to two. By the time I tried it, the other bottle was gone. That will teach me about being indecisive!

Pappy Van Winkle 15 for $70. Yes, I finally learned some self control!

I said to pass it to the next person on the waitlist. Hopefully this will bring me some good bourbon karma!

Ha! I did the same today after one of the stores I had put my name down for called me with the 12, 15, and 20 ($49, $56, $109). I actually started the 1hr round trip drive to the store intending to buy all of them. However, I had already bought a bottle of each, plus ORVW, from another store. Why be greedy? It really got me thinking:

If I had enough PVW to drink a glass every night for the next two years would I be happy then?

Would it even be special anymore?

Do I want to be the type of person that has a "whiskey bunker."

I decided the answers to those questions were no, no, and (reluctantly) no.

Definitely not imposing this viewpoint on anyone, but it was a turning point for me after going through my first obsessive-compulsive Pappy chase for the past couple weeks.

Had a work trip to Carmel Indiana today. Seems to have a good supply of juice but most was over priced for the harder to find items:

ER17 at 99.99 Yikes

PVW23 (x5) all at $399

BMH Small batch 16

As for the Ryes that were passed up:

Hirsch 22

HW21

Saz 18 2011

Handy 2011 (was actually $20 higher than the Saz 18 didn't understand that one at all)

Vintage 23 Rye

You said it, brother! After checking out the selection in OH and PA I can't really complain, but the price gouging around here is getting ridiculous. I passed up a Lot B today for $95.

Passed on ORVW 107 for $39, PVW20 for $120, Thomas Handy for $79 (Still have 2 more in the bunker + one I promised a friend), and a bottle of Screaming Eagle Sauvignon Blanc for $1000+ hahaha.

Instead I bought a elliptical machine for the house
