BarrelChar
Parker's Heritage 27 year for $190.One of those moments in whiskey hunting where the excitement of seeing the bottle quickly gives way to the bummer of the price.
DogfaceSoldier
That's a pretty steep price for PHC 27! I hate all the price gouging of bourbon we've seen in the past 1-2 years. Not a fan of this trend.

dridge11
Passed on the PVW23 at $279. Went in hoping for a 15 or 20, but they had sold out.

Store somewhat close to me has it for $199 and if it sits there long enough I will have that money in my pocket one day and buy it.
jakew
Passed up a PVW23 for $199. By far cheaper than any place I've seen around here but just couldn't justify spending that much on a bottle right now.

jeanraulmitchell
Hope they were all overpriced! If not I'd be in a tough spot trying to leave those behind.I'm traveling through TN & KY. I've purchased 8 bottles so far in TN and only 10 can go into my luggage and my wife's. I haven't even gotten to KY yet. It wasn't that hard to pass up bottles over $300, PVW23 and over $200, rittenhouse. I can find the Parker's & handy at home, and yes, cheaper. It's still nice to see all this knowing I can call & have it shipped later if I want.
RobP_n_TN
Passed on some dusty handles of Geo.Dickel No.8 (tax stamped) and Geo.Dickel No.12 with white label (late '70's early 80's?). I passed about 8 bottles of EW Black label 7 YR (faux tax stamped) last week and there were only 2 bottles when I made it back. It's risky walking away without snagging the good ones .... I hope I don't discover I need those big GD'sRob
BarrelChar
A local store called me with "good news": they had two bottles of ORVW 10/107 for...wait for it...$80! Even though it was at least double the MSRP, the owner acted like I was crazy for laughing, scoffing and passing. He then told me two customers were going to buy it later today. If that's true, it's probably a sign of the apocalypse.Hey, I would have bought it but there's a rumor it's no longer Stitzel-Weller juice. I kid, I kid... StraightNoChaser
Pappy 20 for $125. So happy I didn't do it either. My friend bought one and we drank from it. Not a fan at all.

BarrelChar
The Van Winkle Comedy Tour continues. Today, another store emailed me: they had ORVW 10/107 for $40. A tad high, but I figured I'd scoop it for an SB friend who was shut out of the Spring release. I replied to ensure it was the 107, not the 90, and they quickly assured me it was. Drove there and...it's the 90. Not cool.Oh, but no worries, they had the Pappy 23 for...$300. These limited releases make retailers do terrrrrrible things to their customers. I would have gladly paid $40 dollars for the 10/107! I just purchased my first bottles at $50 and 55, but like i said they were my first ever bottles of this particular expression so not too terribly upset.
JayMonster
I passed up more bourbon today than, I have ever done. It was nothing especially special and nothing rare, but I walked into McKenna 's in downtown Indianapolis today and saw more bourbons, that simply don't make it to NJ. I was heartbroken, but United has terribly strict rules on taking bourbon on their flights, that it just isn't worth it. But, I learned in the peocess, just how bad a selection I have in NJ, and if we return here next year, I am booking a different airline. OLD Fitz, every Four Roses product I jave read about here, Michters, Pogue and more... And all I walked out with was a special single barrel selection of Buffalo Trace. :smiley_acbt:
