DeanSheen
Passed on Weller 12. Not particularly noteworthy, other than the fact that I've never seen it on the shelves here in Georgia before today. But, I have enough in inventory, and I don 't really care for it (I know, that makes little sense). However, I was still tempted to grab a bottle just to say I could... Intersting, I thought you were coming back around to the Weller 12? I opened a liter last weekend and it's getting a bit low. I'm having some of that sweet juice right now as a matter of fact! LikeItWasSodaPop
I believe AaronWF meant to say "call me a TRAITOR" ... his post makes no sense otherwise. He's not a traitor, of course. Being a "trader" is not pejorative as far as I can tell.

LikeItWasSodaPop
The problem with this thread is it lacks the WHY. I mean I can intuit or guess at why Bob passed on the stuff above, but it's f'ing Hectic1, so his REASONS for passing up said bourbons is what would be most interesting to me. Dude knows more than me, has tasted more than me, so, you know, those who know more than you move in mysterious ways, etc. Passing on Pappy 23 for $299 is a no brainer. Passing on Pappy 20 for $150 is mostly a no brainer. Stagg for $79 is not a no-brainer. At least for me. And passing up on ND OGD, again, it's Bob, so he probably wallpapers his bathrooms in NG OGD bottles he pours down the toilet, but, uh, why????? Couldn't we donate that ND OGD to the SB newbie education fund rather than let it sit there in the wild? Or donate to the ND museum? I say this with total respect. Bob taught me the UPC # for ND OGD so it's not like I would even know what it is without his help. We pass on things for specific personal and intellectual reasons. I for one would love to hear more justifications in these posts when warranted.
hectic1
The reason why is simple...I can! No really, I'm pretty much done buying stuff with the exception of a few bottles that are on my must buy list. I was actually the most temped on the FR1B as I was shocked at how cheap it was...I'm flying and the trouble of packing them and checking my bag isn't worth it to me for those as I have all of them in the bunker. The good news is they're all still sitting on the shelves for another hunter to grab now!

That price is 3x what the eBay flippers/ripoff artists are charging! You should post the name of that store so members know who not to give business to. LostBottle
Interesting, Total Wine usually has decent pricing. However, I am not sure how they price the rarer stuff like Pappy and BTAC. I am shocked to see anyone with that price on the Hirsch 16 gold foil and I bet it is still there a year from now - that said, one is born every minute. Ejmharris
Passed on an EH Tornado @ $70. May go back at some point, or reallocate those funds elsewhere. That is a about right for the price. I have seen a little cheaper ($2-3) and a lot more expensive. IMHO it is worth it. The two bottles I have tasted have been superb. I have heard others were not as good. Some will disagree and say it is just hype. I very rarely buy bourbons at that price point, but I bought 6 of these.

Don't know about the BTAC prices .
bad_scientist
Passed up a gold foil Hirsch 16. I can't believe I saw it just staring out at me, but the price was way too high at $200. I think I'll go back and try to negotiate a fairer price.
LostBottle
I know this has been brought up before, but I would like to start the official petition. Can we make this thread available only to members with 10+ posts?I am hearing too many stories of bottles that had been in a location for months suddenly being scooped up by lurkers/auction flippers within days of being posted here. Another generous member let two of us, and only two, know where a couple bottles were via PM after they ran into them, passed, and posted here. Those bottles were long gone before we could get to them, this is after having been at that location for months. The 10+ posts would keep people from registering and viewing this thread without at least introducing themselves.* Edit - make that 12 posts, I see that Downs[no space]ToyFarm guy already had 11 posts... Or a special sub-forum that isnt available until a certain number of posts even after you are a member.
