smokinjoe
Smart move IMHO. I bought one a few months back to give it a try. It is still sitting open in my cabinet. Definitely not worth the money.I am not crazy for this either. Actually, I'm coming to the conclusion that despite the fact I appreciate the efforts, and a "damn the torpedoes", I'll probably keep buying and trying anyway attitude....The micros are for the most part wasting my time and money with most of their whiskey efforts. Leopold's and Berkshire Mountain being the exceptions, at this point. On topic, I did leave lots of WT Rye 101 in Wisconsin this week.
MrAtomic
Walked away without a bottle of Vintage 17 priced at $80. I've never tasted it and the price tag made me a little gun-shy.

If your in so-cal bevmo seems to stock it regularly for $69.The two or three times I've seen it around Chicago it's been in the $79 range. If it was over 100 proof I'd be more prone to try it at that price.
compliance
· Hidden Hidden According to one CA retailer they are hiking the price on Vintage 17 and it is about to go away, but I haven't seen the prices move up anywhere else yet. Link to comment
JayMonster
Whistlepig Rye. I am all for trying something new to me, but I need a very high level of confidence before I drop $80 on any bottle, especially one that at 25% more than Saz 18.

LostBottle
I do not think the Rittenhouse 25 was a fluke - although I think you are right and the 21 was. I think the thought with the 25 was if they let the initial releases age longer, they could charge a lot more. The funny thing is though, the 21 was great, the 23 sucked (like drinking lumber), and the pour of 25 I had was simply OK.I have it on good authority (from a shop owner that tasted a few bottles with workers and received feedback from other enthusiasts) that there were some very good bottles/barrels of 25, but a lot of mediocre and not so good too. With the seemingly inconsistent nature of the 25, I have never felt like gambling almost $200. In my opinion, the only mistake that happened was not bottling a great whiskey before it went downhill. timd
WTR101 for $26.99. Really wanted to bunker another bottle or two, but thought the price was a little salty. I'd still buy it at that price... Even though it was usually $20-$22, I think it's still a bargain under $30.
