Not today, but Sunday, my wife had to go to Sam's Club to pick up a couple of things. I was surprised when I got a phone call. She called to tell me that they had more than just the usual MM, Beam White and EW in stock. Soooooooooo.............., she ended up getting bottles of WT101, KC and MM46 for me. All at good prices too. What can I say? Ya' just can't look a gift horse in the mouth. I reckon I'll keep her around for another thirty years. Cheers! Joe

Picked up a bottle of ER12 today. Can't recall having it before, but I can't find the 17 anywhere, so I'll try the 12.

Nothing bought today, but did have a unexpected run in with on on my contacts from m favorite local place. Asked if I was interested in participating in some barrel selections they are going to be getting in shortly. Obviously, the answer is yes! They are going to be tasting a ER10, 1792 and a Blantons. I really have high hopes on the Blantons. One of my all time favorite pours was at a bar with a "to die for" tasting bottle. Fingers crossed.

Once again, can't stress enough the importance of getting to know your store's people. They can be very good to you.

Found a somewhat sleepy shop that had 2 bottles of 4R1B for $33 each. I'm sure that when they re-order it will be north of $40 on shelf.

I got a 1.75 liter of Eagle Rare for $39. I guess that breaks down to $16.95/bottle. As much as I enjoyed my last 2 bottles of ER I think I might need to go back to grab another one of these.

This is one big ass bottle! It did fit in my cabinet but it makes the BTACs and Willetts look small.

Elmer T Lee, haven't seen much of it lately, so I grabbed a bottle.

Got a bottle of ETL myself today. It's been a while since I've had it, so I'm looking forward to cracking this one open tonight.

You can count on that. But you definitely did well at $33 each.

Isn't the standard Eagle Rare a 10 year Old?

Wanted to try some new things so:

1792 Ridgemont Reserve

Blantons

and

Redemption Rye

Upon first sample of each, I can say I am not a fan of any of them. Only the Redemption would I say has (ironically) NO redeeming qualities, but neither of bourbons immediately endeared themselves to me.

Picked up an OWA on the way back into town. Also, on the non-bourbon side of things, I threw in a 40 Creek Confederation Oak and a Berkshire Mountain Greylock Gin.

I haven't been very impressed with the EH Taylor line as I feel the releases have been good, but way overpriced (a sentiment shared by many, I know). I told myself that I wouldn't get the EHT Barrel Proof unless I could walk out the door with a bottle for less than $60 and...well...I found store that had them listed at $54.99 so I bought two.

Saw this 2003 Pure Kentucky XO in the back of a glass cabinet, behind some older Woodford Reserve MC bottles.

This store has several dusties in another glass case that they say they won't sell because they don't know how to open the case....

I've got an unopened bottled in the line. Never tried it though the reviews I've read suggest it's good.

I think you'll enjoy it. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Here's one I didn't purchase today.

You could take out 3 zeros from that price and I still wouldn't buy it. yikes.

The mod's judgement cometh, and that right soon.

Four Roses small batch yesterday and Knob Single Barrel today. Still kind of surprised how much I ended up liking my last bottle of KCSB. I'm hoping this bottle follows that lead.

Just got back from a 3 day work trip on the California coast. I bought a few and left a few bottles I wanted like a Vintage 21 rye. There are a lot of bottles of single malts in these small coastal towns too but I haven't the time, cash nor palette to thoroughly invest myself in that kind of venture. I think there are more single malt dusties than bourbon and rye dusties.

In the end, I got 2 2010 WLWs, a batch 2 of JRPS and in the attachment I was very happy to see these on a couple of shelves, a 2011 Sazerac and a Louisville Weller Centennial. I often wonder if I've walked right past something good like these two and they are sitting like this, camouflaged in a way.

I'll go back in a month or so and if the Vintage 21 is still there, I am going to grab it. It's hard to resist that white wax.
