tanstaafl2
A bit of JPS18, Batch 13 to start and then for a change of pace went with HW Rendezvous rye for dessert after I finished off some Thanksgiving leftovers. Quite different but both quite good.

Gillman
Current Eagle Rare, a dram from a friend's bottle. On the light side (the Seagram's blending heritage, perhaps?) but with excellent and clean flavor. I haven't bought this for quite a while, I think the reason is the current bottle shape and design, which I find unattractive and ungainly. I think I'll revisit it soon though.Gary

T Comp
A 18 year Willett wheater, 135.4 proof, bought at the gift shop last Sampler. This has the essence, or I should say excellence, of what an aged wheater is all about...even if not from DSP 16. This is now being followed by a private pick 8 year OWA SB. I'm heading over the Bourbon cliff tonight .

tanstaafl2
Took another run at the EC 20, barrel #8. Trying to like his but not having a lot of success. Not terrible mind you but not earth shattering either. Or even earth gently shaking! Nose starts rather unremarkably but improves with a bit of time in the glass. Oddly by the time I had finished drinking it the scent dominated the area around the table and it got almost a licorice quality to it. Taste remains quite dry and moderately ashy either right from the bottle or after a bit of time (15 minutes or so) in the glass. I don't mind a bit of oaky flavor but this lacks enough behind that to make it an interesting drink for me. The finish is fairly long and tends to drift slightly towards the bitter side at the end. Maybe it as my palate as I had been eating a bit of smoked gouda cheese beforehand (although that is not uncommon for me) and a mildly spicey chicken dish. But it hasn't really gotten better since I bought it a couple of months ago. I will certainly finish it but not something I am going to pay to try again certainly, especially at that price and not knowing what you are getting from barrel to barrel. jeffrey r
Opened up the VOB BIB 100 and AAA 10 Yr bottles that I just received from my TPS order last night. Both were excellent in their own right, and especially at the values that they are. At first blush, the VOB was packing a bit more flavor and heat, while the AAA had plenty of flavor but was smoother. If I had to choose one, I'd probably give the slight nod to the AAA after round 1, but I am happy to have both in the arsenal.
Kalessin
Content trying to "figure out" this FRSbatch 2012I've been working on little pours of it for a few weeks now: neat, with a little bit of water, in comparison to 4R Mariage 2009 and 4R Single Barrel LE 2012 (which I'm now looking for more of, haven't found any on the shelves at my usual stores), etc. It's a little different every time. I can say, I didn't enjoy it with a lot of water, but did with just a little. It's a complicated whiskey, and that's not a bad thing!
