Binny's new barrel of OBSK is tha bomb. Darkly spicy and floral with rich sweet caramel towards the finish that dries up too quickly. Ok, the finish is lacking, but otherwise this is a damn good representation of FR.

Last night, took the wife to a wine tasting and a late movie (Zero Dark Thirty). Brought my flask filled with OWA for the flic. :)

Started the weekend a little early with a pour of PHC 2010, Four Roses SmB LE 2012, Larceny, and a some OGD 114. All good stuff.

WL Weller 12 yr tonight. On my third or fourth pour. At this rate ill need to start buying handles of this. So glad I picked this up. It's crazy how good this is and how much it reminds me of the pour o William LaRue Weller Antique I had recently but obviously toned down quite a bit.

Was thinking of vatting my bottles of OBSO and OBSK binnys bottles for the heck of it but maybe I'll save that for another night.

Last night I found a bar with an interesting selection of whiskeys by the pour. Had my first tastes of Angel's Envy, Balcones Baby Blue, High West Silver Whiskey (Mountain Oat), and BMH 16 year. I'll go back at some point, for the Hudson's offerings, the younger BMH (7 year?) and a detour to the dark side.

Yes. Weller 12 is excellent whiskey and great value at its price point too. Vattings are fun to do. Keep an eye out for Gary Gillman's posts regarding vatting, as he has shared many successful whiskey marriages for us to try.

I've nearly finished off a bottle each of EWSB 2002 and Blanton's Orig and I've reached a conclusion. I prefer the Blanton's, both overall and as a value pick at the price ratio of 2:3 for which they were purchased. I will add that Blanton's has been my only taste of Buffalo Trace product so far.

Celebrating Friday with some AAA 10 Star. Never disappointing, and always amazing to me for the dough!

Gary, I don't know if you had a chance to try the Dusty 10 Star that Kevin brought over on Saturday, but it was terrific. Full of sweetness. A highlight of the night, for me.

I haven't had a recent 10 Star in some time. I may need to go get one, though.

Continuing my Love-Fest for Larceny, tonight. IMO, Heaven Hill knocked it out of the park with this one. Super whiskey. As I think about it, I'm not sure there is any other bourbon that I've been drinking more of over the last 5 months, than this one. My new Go-To.

I like it better than MM. It would be nice to see what it was like at a higher proof.

I'm going to have some 4R and Jefferson's tonight.

Vetted FR OBSO and FR OBSK. Really nice contrast and balance of sweet fruits and spice. Added a teaspoon of waterto calm the heat a bit. Gonna move onto a pour or two of WLWeller before bed.

Old Fitzgerald Prime 86-Proof, 6-Year Old. I believe the bottle is from the late-70s (no UPC or health warning). The nose is really fun - fruity with a vanilla pop - and it hits the palate a lot harder than 86 (not that I'm complaining). Finish is a nice transition from caramel to oak to vanilla. I opened this bottle tonight and I'm really pleased that I did.
