smokinjoe
Finally warmed up enough out of the deep freeze to allow some outside time. Bright sunshine, wind has died down, and the Solo going, along with a beer and My Father LE Bijou 1922. ‘bout dang time!! Joe, how was it? I've been hesitant to pull the trigger at that price.

I only bought it because I drew my brother in the Christmas exchange, and got a couple for him along with some Armagnac as his present. Told myself why picking them out, if I’m going to spend this insane amount on my brother…I should get one for ME! . Plus, I’d never had one. It was very good. Solid flavor throughout. I was most impressed with the draw. I’ve never had a better drawing cigar of this size. It also never got hot. And I got every millimeter out of that thing. I don’t see myself picking this up even remotely regularly. 1X/ year, maybe? I’m happy with a Don Carlos Presidente as my sorta regular splurge, at just 1/3 the price. Plus, I’ll still feel presidential with it while also bragging a bit…
smokinjoe
What a week! AF Don Carlos Belicoso and Chattanooga Whiskey Cask out front to decompress and get the weekend started. My work week fit this Don Carlos iteration, as I was “muy belicoso” for most of it!
smokinjoe
Tne plastic factory is off tomorrow for President’s Day, so I’m enjoying a little late Sunday afternoon Macanudo Portofino and Wild Turkey out front.
smokinjoe
Enjoying this end of the work week smoke, while watching the Sun pass down through the Georgia pines. This is a hefty and powerful cigar, but big nutty flavor deliciousness.
Skinsfan1311
I did some yard work and rewarding myself with a good book, a good smoke & the Players Championship reveling in this beautiful weather. I picked this up in Aruba, back in September. No name stick rolled for the shop in the Domenican, I think. smokinjoe
Fixin’ to sit down on this beautiful (if a touch cool for my liking) Sunny afternoon with a Rocky Patel Winter Collection and VOB 90 in the coolest little aluminum cup that I was served a bourbon in last night at the Braves game. Supposed to be a throw away, to be recycled, alternative to plastic cups… but nope. It’s a good whiskey drinking vessel.
smokinjoe
I was thinking today would be a rain washout, but it’s been quite nice. Enjoying some Sun, warm temps, an occasional passing cloud, a light breeze, and some tunes out front with an OGD114 and Rocky Patel Disciple.

Good for you, I did smoke cigarettes, pipe, and cigars, but quit over 42 years ago. As it is, I still ended up with significant pulmonary disease. My PCP said if I hadn't quit, she wouldn't be seeing me. That said, sometimes I miss a quality cigar.

Had I taken up smoking, I probably would have gone with a pipe instead of cigars (no cigarettes in any case... can't stand the taste or smell of the smoke). My childhood choirmaster smoked a pipe. I did respect him a lot. Even though both would involve various forms of mouth/throat cancer. I get that cigars have a different (and more appealing) flavor to them (i.e. just smelling the secondary smoke). But I just couldn't.

When I hung out at the smoke shop, I'd smoke cigars, but I was addicted to cigarettes.
smokinjoe
Yesterday, it was a Don Carlos Bellicoso while listening to Braves post game on the radio. Trio of Braves pitchers (Fried started and went 7) had No-No with 2 outs in 9th. Lost the no hitter and shut out on JD Martinez homer. Bummer. But, that’s OK as I envisioned the greatest Met of all time hitting it. Ah, the beauty of radio and a vibrant immagonation… Edited May 12, 2024 by smokinjoe

aquavite
For those that know, I'm just curious. How hard is it, actually, to get Cohibas into the US, considering how "illegal" they still are? On my several trips to Hong Kong, there was a smoke shop/Humador in the hotel in which I stayed and, of course, Cohibas were all over the place. Is there a "Black market" network for Cohibas and other Cuban cigars in the US?? I don't smoke, so it doesn't really matter to me. I was just curious.
