I think this is really what got me putting things away this past year. We're buying a new house, thinking about having a kid. I'm never going to have fewer financial responsibilities than I do today, so why not pickup the best stuff I can and know that I can always pull out a special or old (or old and special) bottle whenever I want?

Of course, a house and some kids probably won't keep me out of the whiskey aisle. Might even send me there more often

That was exactly my situation. Moved into my house and knew I had about one year or so of financial freedom before baby. Convinced my wife to let me go wild by letting her know I can bunker current purchases for decades and it will never get cheaper. Fall 2012 was an expensive season, but who will remember in Fall 2042? No one.

Well, I plan to be dead for two years by then, but my heirs will have some of my Fall 2012 purchases still around to comfort them.

Four Roses followed by Van Winkle and Wild Turkey...changing bourbon profiles and pending shortages have me sitting pretty on all of these for a long time. :)

Good on you for being ahead of the curve. Some of us are new to the game with very thin bunkers and wishing we had gotten in sooner. However there are many on this Board who are VERY generous and it is encouraging to see the support for those like me who are late to appreciate our American Spirit.

I'm not sure that I get your point here... What does someone helping you find a bottle of Old Fitz BIB have to do with what people have bunkered...that was the point of this thread correct?

Willett's, DSP 16, BTAC, ND Old Grand Dad...

Still looking to sample some of that OGD. Maybe this Summer when I'm finished with classes and ready to celebrate? :toast:

I have a few things stashed at this point, mostly singles as replacements, but have a few OWA age-stated and single barrels, WTR101, and Bonded OF.

Don't bunker much though have 3 bottles of WT 12. Was 4. Will check the store I found to see if anymore exist. I got 2 bottles of RR 101 from there too.

If I find something I like I tend to buy all I can afford at the time. I have experienced too many "no longer availables" and "ain't what it used to be's".

Right on Dave. I just added another two bottles of FC103 with the 6 yr AS. Never know when that will be gone . . .

No, I'm only willing to spend that for bottles with disintegrated corks from having been laid on their sides.
