Picked up a Makers 46 on the weekend. Was the last one on the shelf of my local store, and it had only been released here 5 days and it was all gone. $80 was steep, but I really enjoy this stuff!

What do you do when you go out of town for a wedding and get there before anyone else has arrived? Find a liquor store to check out, naturally. Nothing spectacular, but bought a WT 101 rye and a '97 EWSB

A handle of Old Heaven Hill 8 year old - for $17 ... seemed like the right thing to do.

Did i do something wrong? I'm taking you haven't seen this yet in your neck of the woods...

Oh dear, don't get him going! No luck in Ky in finding this other than same day it hit the shelves from what I see around here.

No Jorge you did nothing wrong, not at all. It's a running joke around here that Doug (foureyedfox) lives in Louisville just a few miles from where ECBP is made and he can't seem to find any.

Perhaps we should let Doug in on the double secret location.

Honestly... the stuff isn't that good.

Shhh, let's not tell Doug that, everyone needs hopes, dreams, aspirations . . .

you did nothing wrong. i too find it kinda amusing now about how this stuff doesnt exist. if i hadnt seen pictures of it on here, id think you guys were just pulling my leg and it doesnt even exist. people 1000 miles from where its made seem to be able to walk into any store, anytime (it seems) and pick up multiples.....yet i could bike to the distillery and can not find a single bottle all year.

i keep telling myself that it cant be as good as my favorite (bookers) for consolation.........then someone on here HAD to tell me that it was even better. gah!

soon, you guys are gonna be passing rumors about a fake '3rd batch' that had just been released nationwide.......just to see me fret when i cant find any:rolleyes:.........like the slobbering dog who lunged for the fake stick throw you just did

Well, it it is pretty good to be honest. This was the second time I picked up two off the shelf. Same store too. These are my first bottles from the second batch. I learned my lesson the first time. I bought one initially when they first came out thinking I could come back the next week to buy another one. Well, let's just say lesson learned. Yeah, it was gone when I came by the next week.

I wasn't even looking for these when I came in. I actually was thinking about picking up a Balcones but quickly changed my mind when I saw these sitting on the shelf.

American whiskey but...Balcones True Blue Cask Strength

I have some of this and don't quite know what to think of it. I also have Baby Blue and think it is is an interesting buttery corn flavor. My first approach to TBCS was not as kind. Will have to go again.

Picked up a couple of firsts over the weekend while out of town visiting family...

Stagg Jr and ETL... think I'm more excited to try the ETL than the Stagg

Why should I be cut out from ECBP because I'm 1000 miles away? You have a $40 limit. I have bought every new HH release for years running. I bought several PHCs this year. My dollars are supporting the Kentucky economy (glad to do it 'cause Kentucky rules) and making it possible for the distilleries to do things like ECBP.

There will be a Batch 3 soon. Do your legwork, get in good with a store manager, let the BOTY hook you up instead of laughing at him, don't worry about constantly violated laws of interstate transport, something. It's not that hard to get a bottle of ECBP.

And it KILLS Booker's.

And you can bike to the distillery (well warehousing and bottling facility in this case) and get some hand selected barrel proof EC12 single barrels. Anytime. But they're over your limit and L'ville to Bardstown and back is really a pretty long bike ride. Next time I'm out there I'll rent a bike and join you.

Yeah, when the BOTY offers to hook you up at below cost, why wouldn't you go for that, 393foureyedfox? He was even going to basically hand-deliver it to you too. All it would have taken was a little self-control and patience, KBF is just around the corner. I'm guessing you missed that post, or somehow misinterpreted it. Anyhoo, hope a stork drops one in your lap soon. Best of luck!

you guys are taking this too seriously. even i appreciate being the butt of the joke.

many, many guys on here have offered to deal with me via a ship-trade. im not comfortable with that. just because its done all the time doesnt mean you wont be the one guy caught for it and made an example of. its just bourbon, its not worth the risk. id love to try it, but its not a big deal.

Wryguy............the BOTY offer was a joke. i seriously doubt he was serious at offering to bring a bottle to me at below cost.

highinthemtns...........im relatively new to bourbon, but even i know that this stuff is distilled and bottled/aged at two very different locations.

and im not saying that because you live 1000 miles away that you shouldnt get any. my point was the irony of it being relatively easy to find everywhere but where it is made.

ECBP and i are a running joke on this site. even if i dont pop in and say anything, others refer to the joke anyway.

relax and have a drink.

It's a bit early for a drink, but heck, why not?! I've got the day off, and ECBP sounds delightful! ;) Sounds to me like you're a man of many principles and rules. FWIW, I do think that Joe's offer was genuine, his generosity is legendary. I think the expression is "you don't look a gift horse in the mouth," you just drink from it, no questions asked, and thank the bourbon gods. Anyhoo, sooner or later someone on here in KY will take care of you, if you can't find it yourself.

Pretty sure Joe's offer was genuine even if he phrased it in a joking manner. There's a reason he's BOTY.

ECBP is hard to find everywhere. When it's shown up here, it's been gone within a day or two. It's kinda silly, and it's just whiskey, but getting releases like ECBP takes work.

Anyway, the joke ran its course a long time ago. You're new and you haven't seen it happen yet but within the next couple months we are going to get inundated with "woe is me, I can't find PVW or BTAC" posts. Hard to find releases are nothing new.

Not sure if I am missing something or misreading a joke but I will chime in anyway: Shipping alcohol is not illegal. You cannot do it by USPS but it can obviously be done by UPS and FedEx if you are a licensed retailer. They do tend to deny personal alcohol shipping but I have seen exceptions made without having to lie about the contents. With UPS and FedEx it is not an issue of legality it is just a company policy. A friendly chat with a local UPS or FedEx clerk may surprise.

Varies by state at least. It is illegal to receive an alcohol shipment here in Utah. That's why I've never done it. Nope, never ever.
