mbroo5880i
The ever beguiling Blanton's, in my glass. Everything that goes along with Blanton's; from the price, to the unique bottle shape, to the the horsey stopper, to the squeak of the cork, etc., is an assault on each, and every one, of your senses. Which, can make it difficult to recognize how wonderful a whiskey it actually is. And, it is fabulous whiskey. :yum:I pulled the bottle of Blanton's out and looked at it closely. I opted for WT101 instead. First, neat and then in a 1:1 blend with Ritt BIB. I will save the Blanton's for tomorrow when my family visits. DrBob
alternating four roses single barrel and bulleit 10. a distinct family resemblance. As with most of the small batch/Single Barrel combos. the small batch (bulleit 10) is more woody than the single barrel (4 roses in this case). I am guessing a lot of woody whiskey is softened by a few honey barrels in the Small Batch stuff. Edited October 20, 2013 by DrBob
suntour
I got on a real budget-bourbon kick there for awhile, Evan Williams BIB, WT101, et al, and I have to say that when I went back to my bottle of Blanton's I felt like it was the greatest bourbon of all time. So delicious. Guess I'll grab myself a pour now. Had a Hancock's Private Reserve earlier, curious to see how it compares.

Guy Debord
Thanks to everyone at SB. I just had Pappy 15 and William Larue Weller this weekend in Louisville. WOW! I am forever changed! I liked the William Larue Weller over the Pappy 15, but both were amazing.

T Comp
Thanks to everyone at SB. I just had Pappy 15 and William Larue Weller this weekend in Louisville. WOW! I am forever changed! I liked the William Larue Weller over the Pappy 15, but both were amazing. You know Guy my first inclination was to fire back some smart ass comment and show how I am not some bourgeois following the herd Pappy (or WLW) bandwagoner , and you might look back someday on your bourbon journey to "forever changed" being a bit hyperbolic, but then I remembered my very first time with a beautiful well-aged wheater bourbon, Pappy 20...and yeah it's one of those awfully special first time moments . KySalesRep
Having a very nice pour of regular FRSmB. Makes me realize that with all the LE's and Private Selections from the gift shop, it's easy to get spoiled. Need to make more of an effort to get back to basics once in a while
