Brother in law in town for the week. Last night opened, and did serious damage to, a bottle of 4R SB LE 2012.

A pour from a freshly opened bottle of OF bday 2012. A very complete bourbon. Nose mouth and finish are all superb.
Aha! Same for me! Not bad, eh? We had a few decent pours while watching the Giants finally win one last night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I plan to pull it out again for the start of the World Series and give it another spin.

Began the celebration of our 46th anniversary last night by sharing a couple pours of Booker's neat with my wife. (I tell her it is always neat with her.)

Bonus point earned for the "neat with her" comment. Congrats!

Celebrating my 8th with some 4R LEsB '13.

I stashed away a J.T.S. Brown BIB to sip on, in my hotel. Simple, cheap, and good. Three attributes that are desirable in any bourbon, I think.

FR YL in hot apple cider. Hit the spot on a chilly fall night. Young Dusty had some with me. Minus the Rutledge influence of course.

Hitting up the 2013 4R SmB now. Yeah. Really not much better.

"Not much better" as in there aren't many bourbons better or as in bad first impression not improving.

Not many bourbons better for this boy.

Thats what I thought. Tasted it at Doug's( Thanks Randy!) and that memory has me eagerly anticipating the arrival in Hoosierland.

Wow, still hasn't hit IN? *schemes*

Sorry we just closed the border. River swollen and icy, too dangerous to cross. Not likely to reopen until after all of the fall releases.

FRSB LE followed by OGD 114. The move down in proof to the 114 led me to the realization that ODG is "thin" in comparison. No worries though, the OGD still delivered that superb spice bomb explosion on entry that is always followed by the woody finish on the palate.

I'll pick you up for the road trip. Frozen rivers don't slow me down.
Suck it, Eric! Yeah!

Josh and Sean on the way? Hide the scotch, bourbon and craft beer! You guys can have the vodka. Actually too bad you can't make it to Indy this Sat should be a blast.

i love the fact that this guy is the bourbonian of the year, yet praises a good cheap bottle of $10 bourbon that others would cringe just at the thought of, just as often as he praises the limited releases and hard to get collectors stuff. plus, hes just as down to earth in person. drink on, joe!

and to stay on track, im having some OGD 114, after some air time

Been away from SB.com for a few days...

Saturday night: Boston Symphony Orchestra performance. In the lounge at Symphony Hall before the concert, the bartender can't get the hang of the new auto-measuring pourers they put in the bottle. Pours me over 4 oz of Knob Creek, neat, as we're talking, and says he's happy that I'm getting it. i left an extra tip for that one... Wagner's "Siegfried Idyll", Mozart's Piano Concerto #25, and Brahms' Symphony #3 were all beautifully performed. Luckily, I wasn't driving, because I was still wobbly at the end of the show...

Monday, tough day at work, get home and wanted a glass of big-flavor bourbon after dinner. I had posted a few days ago about having a bottle of OGD 114 down in the basement. I looked through all of my boxes. Plenty of everything, but exactly NO 114. I consoled myself with OFBB 2011 and OGD BiB.

Today, after work, I went out searching stores on my route to/from work, and there was no OGD 114 to be bought. None. I came home, and after dinner, consoled myself with OFBB2011 and OGD BiB.

Tomorrow, more shopping. If I find any 114, I'm bringing home at least three bottles.

Lessee...started with some CEHT SmB, followed by EWW, followed by Ritt BiB (DSP 1). I guess it's a bonded night. The "Admiral" fell asleep on the couch after a glass of cheap riesling so I'm off to find a night cap.
