ChainWhip
Don't try this at home.I have a cold and lost my sense of smell and taste. I thought I would try some whisky to sooth my throat and quickly discovered that all distilled spirits apparently "taste" the same under these circumstances, which surprised me, I just assumed the strength of whisky would impart at least a little character. I tested with both whisky and scotch and would've swore both were Smirnoff vodka if blindfolded. It was pretty gross, just an isopropyl alcohol nose (not really a smell, but the pungency was there) and zero flavor from Weller 12 and Highland Park 15.Just got over a head cold myself - get better in then for the weekend! Load up on antibiotics if you have to... But be there my friend. :-)

Cigar Dan
what is YOUR impression of that WFE 8year? i loved it at the distillery tour, but from what i read on here, i may not find any for a while.I think it is very good bourbon. I bought 2 bottles a few months back when I saw it in the area. It is supposedly selected for Martin Wine Cellar (a local chain). I went through the first bottle fairly quickly, and tried to save the second. Since my son is in visiting, I decided it was time to crack the seal on the second. My only regret is that I didn't pick up another couple of bottles when I had the chance. RT Fan
Got my first taste of Stagg Junior the other night, wow does that have some giddyup to it! Makes me afraid to open the bottle of George Stagg sitting in my bunker. Only kidding, but neat with a glass of ice water back on a chilly night the Stagg JR hit the spot. I think it is a one and done drink, no need for another glass prior to dinner and no driving was involved. Other than that with the traditional start of brown liquor season commencing after Columbus Day here in the northeast, the usual suspects were had over the recent weekends: Weller 12, OWA, Woodford & Larceny. I am looking to finish off the Woodford & replace it with a bottle of Angel's Envy. Those flatter style bottles fit in nicely along the side of the cabinet, allowing for a wider selection. Tony Santana
Those flatter style bottles fit in nicely along the side of the cabinet, allowing for a wider selection.Agreed. Not that it prevails over taste, cost, etc., but my cabinet is full, so the flatter bottles (AE, KC, WR, etc.) or the tall thin ones do help the cause. That OF BB is screwing up my spacing. Thank god I don't own a Willett Pot Still.

393foureyedfox
went back to the $10 bourbon/burger/fries place with my wife for lunch, and was gonna get that again, but she wanted the Truman Special (eggs, bacon, toast, bourbon, and milk) but didnt want the bourbon, so i got hers. it was supposed to be OGD BIB, but they were out, so I got Fighting Cock substituted instead. 10 times the bourbon OWA was last week, at least to me. I need to pick up another one of those next time im out, havent had it in a while. it's 'hot' but i seem to like that.
DrBob
I really like FC, probably my favorite $15 bourbon. Going to have some EW BIB tonight sharing the last of my bottle with friends at our weekly cigar/bourbon get together. Last night was 4RSB. I will admit this bottle hasn't really captivated me but for some reason last night it was exactly the right pour.
