393foureyedfox
after a fatty of Larceny, I am now enjoying a 1/2 oz or so of Dickel 9/103. This has quickly become one of my top 3, along with Booker's and KCSB.
Tony Santana
First pour of my Henry McK 1B, and hoping some air time helps it along. Or - just might not be in the mood for it tonight.
jwacky
PHC 7, Promise of Hope. I really like this stuff. Not sure how I feel about the price, but I like what's inside the bottle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hn4bourbon
Had some EWBiB and now moved on to some KCSB that has been opened for almost a year but still pretty full. I've gotta admit, I've not been that big a fan of KCSB.
qman22
VOB BiB, ORVW 10/107, and now some Weller 12 before I head to bed. All 3 were great pours and diverse from each other
kcgumbohead
Revisited the GS OBSO that so impressed me on the first taste as the GS. My first 2 pours before last night were not on the level of that GS taste, we didn't bond. Well something was off in palate land because last night it all came together, holy crap was this good!! Ripe plums, raspberries, dark cherries, a muted spice but nicely balanced against the fruit. This was not a search for it I think there might be fruit but a full on explosion of well defined flavors. The finish if I can even call it that was beyond any I have yet experienced. The way a eucalyptus cough drop fills the nostrils long after it has disolved is what the fruit signature did for me last night. Minutes not just seconds after the sip I could smell the cherry, raspberry, and plum. WOW! JR did it again, damn I love me some 4R!!
Eskwar
Some WTRB and AAA 10 Yr. while catching up on 'Sleepy Hollow'.Nearly ditto here. Badly needed a digestif after Johnny Carino's with the kids, and opened a handle of AAA 10 Yr. while catching up on Survivor with the wife. Put the AAA first in a Manhattan (heavy on the Angostura and Noilly Prat), the chased it with AAA solo neat. (Then, totally ruined everything by reaching for a small nip of Va. Gentleman 80pf right before bed. Yargh.)
GaryT
I have passed this over too many times. Country was shin' how much he enjoyed it, and now you, Dog. Buyin' me one tomorrow.:toast: I think if the AAA 10yr was bottled at a higher proof, I'd prefer it over the 10 star. But, since wishin' ain't made it so - I stick with the 10 star Was singularly unimpressed upon my first pour as well, Daryl, but that one grew on me. Thanks - I certainly hope that's the case with this one. Tonight, started with a blind sbs of a 2012 4RSB (general retail package) against a 2013 4RSB OBSV private pick (100 proof, 8 yrs, 2 mos). I'd be lying if I said the 8 yrs didn't make me a bit worried, and I was able to pick it out from the color and nose - a touch lighter and a bit more sweetness on the nose. But was really impressed - on the palate it had a lovely, silky mouthfeel, and butterscotch, toffee, caramel sweetness. Preferred it over the other, which is a great pour on its own merit! Finishing up with some Bookers (neat, of course)

On the other hand, totally agree about Booker's neat.
393foureyedfox
On the other hand, totally agree about Booker's neat.I wouldnt dream of putting a cube in my Booker's.... I've gotta admit, I've not been that big a fan of KCSB.More for me! I kinda hope it never gets popular (so the prices dont go up and ease of getting it goes down ), but I also hope sales are enough that Beam keeps making it. Yeah, I'm definitely in the minority on that one I did several blind SBS tastings, and it seemed like a coin flip (some days I leaned one way, some days the other). As I can't get the 10yr in Georgia, I'm happy enough with the 10-star

smokinjoe
HH 6 yr BIB from the fridge. Pours like molasses, and drinks like Heaven. Great mouthfeel and finish. The 2 extra years on this BIB give it that extra something that takes the very good EWBIB to greatness for my tastes. So good, and worth 3 times it's cost. This could definitely be in the running as my Desert Island bourbon...albeit, a cold island...

Razer91
Poured some 4r 125th in honor of finding two more bottles this past week. I was done hunting for it but I got offered some bottles by the stores in the area and I wasn't going to say no. Looking forward to enjoying them in the years to come and sharing them with good company.
Richnimrod
I took a flyer on an offering I'd never heard of before from a local craft distiller (Two James Spirits in Detroit). My local purveyor recited it's supposed virtues, and I took the bait. It's called "Grass Widow" Straight Bourbon Whiskey. They haven't been distilling long enough for this to be their own liquid, and I have no idea who made it for them; or whether it was indeed made for 'em. More likely a bulk buy, I suppose. It tastes and smells alot like Buffalo Trace. I find it a bit of stretch that it could be BT juice however, since they've been crying about a shortage of almost all their stuff. I was swayed to purchase this, in part because I, along some other Michigan Bourbon Hounds, will be touring the Two James facility on Saturday.
