Some VOB BiB as we go through our T-day prep - 25 people tomorrow; so I'll be keeping that bottle close...

but I just don't "get" Canadian whiskey, they all seem rather bland to me.

perhaps because practically every Canadian whiskey is 80 proof. Ive looked the Canadian shelf over many times, thinking I'd try one if over 90 proof, but haven't seen one yet, from a quick scan of the shelves. I don't like to dip below 100 proof, and I will NOT go below 90. I'm enjoying some 90 proof Dickel right now (not a bourbon either, technically), but the 103 proof Dickel is SO much better!

Sitting by a good fire and enjoying some Bookers. Life is good.

Nice! Really cool looking fire ring. It must be a little warmer down your way. It is 21 degrees in Indy with a wind chill around 10 degrees. Too cold, too soon!

Started out with some HH 6 Year BIB, really didn't hit the spot. Was a little hot tonight. I will search out something smoother.

BT SOP 88. Wouldn't have paid full pop for it, but a local place had em on close-out at $20. Worth it at that price, though the 131 I got w/it is a bit better. While just an 80pf-er, the TB wasn't bad -- and was < $20 at Red Dot in FF in 2012, so fond memories of a great family trip there.

Wow, just about anything is worth a try at $20 much less one of the Single Oak bottles. Just curious what is 131?" I have also been to Red Dot. They have a great selection! I still have some bottles and boxes from there.

Had a pour of Willet 10 and then a Manhattan with WT, CA, and chocolate chili bitters I received for my birthday today. Happy birthday to me! Going on the annual Thanksgiving Eve pub-crawl soon too so I'll be fitting a few more pours in tonight.

Some 2013 OFBB this evening.

Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested.

@mbroo (sorry, not sure how to reply to a specific post in tapatalk): 131 was simply BT's designation for one particular barrel that had unique characteristics (as was 88). Tim Read's Scotch & Ice Cream had a nice write-up on that barrel, and the project in general, back on 9/23/11. (And you're right about the low risk of low prices: that thinking led me to try all those HH BiBs a few years back--now, I bring EW BiB, HH 6 BiB, Mellow Corn, OHH BiB, and the like back home to TX by the boxful on my drives through KY, and they're rarely >$10.)

it's about 38° down here tonight. And crystal clear skies, the stars are shining bright. I've moved on to some Michter's 10.

It is damn cold in the Hoosier state this evening. Some ECBP is warming me up nicely. :-)

I just might crack open this Wild Turkey American Spirit. I plan on going through a flight of PVW with a few family members that have wanted to try them tomorrow.

Just make sure you have them far enough apart that the WTAS doesn't show up the Pappy too bad and you hurt a lot of people's feelings in the process.

Good advice. The tasters have open minds and no preconceptions that I know of. I expect one or two of my kin will prefer the WTAS due to their preference for ryed bourbon.

Do it! This way you can tell me if I need to go grab one of the many still sitting on the shelf!

Will do. I suspect that I will suggest you get at least one to try if you like Turkey. Did you like that dusty Rare Breed?
