Decided to crack open some bottles this week. Last night was an OBSF private pick, and tonight some WLW 2012.

I'm about to kill a 200ml of ND OT. I recommend this as very good way to drink $2.50. Mmmm...makes me feel a little better that I have yet to find any ND OGD in the wild.

Had a little tasting after curling practice last night, everyone brought a bottle. Lexington, Noah's Mill, some Canadian I can't recall, AE, WR 4W. Passed on a couple that I own already - they were small samples, but I still had to drive home.

I'll get on a kick and really hit it hard for a few weeks, but then I'll forget about it for a while. It's a nice anchor to keep at the bottom of a barrel proof ladder.

I went back to the OBSF again after the WLW. Sean says it's a "julep in a glass" and that's probably not all that far off. Although I haven't enjoyed the prepared juleps I've had (too sweet) this had all the flavors present with just a hint of sweetness.

I put 3 drops of water in the WLW and it settled in. That's a hot rod of a wheater. Last night I was getting vanilla and white pepper.

Sipping a little OGD 114 at the office. It was definitely a mistake to store the case of 114 in the office; one small pour and I just finished another bottle. Only four left, and I really wanted to put them away to remember how rich and full the OGD114 was in 2012. Oh well. Yup, best mistake I ever made.

Starting with an Old Fashioned with some FRSmB and then finishing with a pour of PHC Golden with one cube. I am really enjoying both. The PHC Golden is way above my pay grade but I have been nursing it along for a month or so. After these two are gone I will go back to my wheelhouse of EW BIB and OGD BIB.

HH BIB White 6YO tonight. Really enjoying it. Perhaps not quite as much as VOB but still well within tolerance. As always, impressed by how much HH can do for so little $$.

Last night, I made the OF > OF BB progression, finished up with my first pour of the 2013 WLW. Delicious.

We had a properly cold night here in Chicago last night so I busted out the big gun for a belly warmer: '08 WLW with a big splash of water. Amazing whiskey (still) after all these years and no degradation in quality that I could discern. Wish I had more than just this one bottle left but will try to stretch it out 'til New Years, if possible.

I didn't have time to go shopping for 114 last night, but I did have a great time watching the Red Sox beat the Cardinals and sipping at OGDBiB and OFBB2011 (which will now probably drop out of rotation, as it's getting low in the bottle and I want to save some for later).

Tonight, I have a few more stores to visit in search of the finest current expression of OGD. Wish me luck...
