while doing homework, moved from the Dickel 9/103, to Ezra 7/101, to OGD 114. Tonight at least, id have to rank them as Dickel, then OGD, then Ezra. Ezra was the clear loser; its nice at first, but then it hits the back sides of the tongue and has an odd taste. Dickel barely edged the OGD just due to the great lingering aftertaste, and just not being in the mood for the rye heavy OGD tonight. I think my next buy may be a Dickel 12, just to see what similarities it has with the 9/103

Now THAT'S how to do homework! I think you'll like the Dickel 12, it's a good buy.

...and 90 proof is high, when the whiskey is from Tennessee.

Yes, the most well known Tennessee whisky is Jack Daniels which was 90 proof, then lowered to 86, now it's 80. The various specialty bottlings of Jack are higher proof but the standard product (the World's largest volume selling whisky) is 80.

Dickel has remained stead fast keeping their No. 12 brand at 90 proof.

Love the GD 12,good stuff!! It was a gateway whisky (e) for me and I remain a big fan. Great distillery to visit as well.

Probably my favorite to visit. Others are more entertaining or informative but nestled in the little valley by the Cascade stream Dickel is my minds eye view of a distillery.

After getting home last night from a 3 day weekend in the New Orleans area, I had a couple of good sized pours of VOB86. I have to make this a much more regular pour. Every single time I have a pour of this, I am in awe of how amazing it taste. So much flavor and and all the flavor elements just present itself so readily as soon as you take a sip. Come to think of it...it's like the feeling of putting cotton candy in your mouth. I also enjoy the finish very much!

Well I know its a little early in to have a pour but I couldn't wait. The ups man just dropped of my first bottle of George T Stagg and I had to taste it. WOW! love this stuff, need to get more!

Enjoyed my first ER 17 at Whiskey Down in the MGM Grand. Lots of bourbon available here if you are willing and able to pay the price.

Having a little HW Bourye tonight after the Favorite HW thread sparked a craving.

First bottle of OGD bonded I've bought in years, it is indeed a slightly different whiskey than the 114 to my surprise (never bought the bonded because I assumed it was just watered down 114)

its hard to believe its just a proof difference in the same whisky, isnt it?

And now for something completely different……. :skep:

I acquired a Beam gift shop Old Tub BIB at the KBF this year. I decided to open it up and give it a try tonight. Not bad. Not great, but palatable to say the least. FWIW, it does have the Beam yeasty taste to it, but not in an exaggerated way. To me, the taste is akin to a young version of a cross between Beam Black and Knob Creek. It's probably not something I'd get again, but at least it won't be used for drain cleaner.

Cheers!

That's just the way I thought Old Tub would be, nothing special, just something for the gift shop. Really cool label though.

That is honestly why I bought mine, the really cool Old Timey Label and like Joe said it's not too bad really.

Decided to pour the Willett in the Crazy Bong Bottle...or, more commonly known as the Pot Still Reserve...:skep: Though not remarkable, it's a serviceable whiskey. I just love the bottle, though. It's a hoot. I think my next move is to decant the wacky and funkalicious HW Campfire into the empty bottle, and have an absolute Hootenanny!!

Very Old Barton rules but does stand up when Old Grand Dad enters the room.

I think I'll have to have both tonight:)
