I passed on a bottle of Lot B 12yr for $88.. The quality isn't there for that price, in my opinion.

OtisCampbell looks to be the frontrunner for StraightBourbon's Rookie of the Year. Well played, sir.

In the same vein, I passed on (a chance for) an ORVW 10/107 for $60. The quality might be there, but I won't pay that asking price.

As much as I like ORVW 107 (probably my favorite "value" aged wheater) I passed on one for $66. I have a hard time paying that when they were $45 and less last year. And I already got one for $49 at another store.

We went to Sams club today, and we were both excited to get to the large liquor aisles. She was much happier than I though....as her favorite 3 wines were a good $4-5 cheaper per bottle than they are at regular stores. She got a case and a half of the assortment.

There wasn't a lot of bourbons to look at. The only one I would have even considered buying was a Jack Daniels Holiday Select, as I would've been curious to try JD at 98 proof. But, it was $50, which I considered waaaay too much for anything JD. Is it just me or does BF overprice everything?

I didnt get any bourbon or whiskey. I was hoping theyd have a Dickel 12 as that's what I intend to try next, but no luck.

F***ing unbelievable. Was it at least an age stated bottle? Is this a glimpse of things to come I wonder? Hope not...but nothing surprises me these days.

Travelled to a nearby burg today to check out a store that generally has a few gems. Which bourbons did I pass up? All of em. I'm beginning to think that I need travel no further than my own bar. There's always a good .. even great .. pour there. Home sweet home.

No kidding. Every time I'm in a new area, I check out the local stores and my wife asks "What are you looking for? Are you missing something?" My answer is typically "Well YEAH - but I don't know what. I'll know it when I see it though!" I can't say I want for anything - I figure I could drink comfortably for 6 years without ever buying another drop

EC 21,PHC POH and LS&B 13yr rye.Verdict is still out on the LS&B,I have plenty on the PHC and can't get myself to spend the money on the EC21 when I am still setting on a couple of 18's.

I would pass on the Lock Stock & Barrel, not worth the cash. I'll post my notes in the rye section soon.

Very curious to hear some more input as it has not been widely discussed, that is for sure.

It was the Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr. I have not seen a NAS version. Still almost double what it has been in the last 2 years.

The seemingly ever more expensive ER10 @ $38.99....seen it still under $30 somewhere....best recall soon if I ever want any again at a reasonable price.

I read earlier today that you were going. I belong to both Costco and Sam's, through extended family memberships. I actually find Sam's (in Indy, at least) to have a better selection than Costco. However, it is the normal fare...WT101, WR, BT, MM. They do have some gift sets but mostly lower proof or flavored stuff.

Saw it tonight at my favorite liquor store for $29.99. I have just never thought it is any better than BT which is usually $10 cheaper.

exactly what New Albany had. You'd not know there was a MM shortage by walking through Sam's. Tons of MM, WR, EW, JD, JB, WT, the usuals. Great wine prices and selection, but I'm not the wine drinker....I can handle Muscato, but that's it. She loves reds.

You are right - this is shocking. I bought a bottle two years ago for exactly $33. I passed on a store-selection ER10 that came highly recommended to me - it was $35 or so. Think I'll go back for it this week. When I see news like ORVW 10yr for almost $70, I'm increasingly drawn to the store selections for a bit of variety and value.
