First taste of ER10 followed by FRSmB. The ER seems hot, spicy and thin - hope it gains some depth with air time. I had some popcorn with the FRSmB and tasted grassy mint - first time.

A pour of Buffalo Trace then a pour of Elijah Craig 12. I'm still learning my way around bourbon, but I think I prefer the BT?

Weller 12 is excellent especially for $21 just have some mental block with the screw cap.

I had that hangup when I first got into bourbon years ago also. The screw top just seemed 'cheap.' Glad I got past it, though, it's good stuff.

edit to add: I also started filling my decanter with it, maybe that also helped me get past it.

The ice thread put me in a mood the last few days. Had some OGD114 on rocks, then OGD114 neat. Reloaded for some Ritt BIB on rocks, then ECBP137 neat.

Do you find that decanting in any way enhances the bourbon or it a "style" issue? I decant handles into 750s for convenience. But, then, my stash is in a cabinet, not on display.

I've been in bottle clearing mode too. Trying to narrow my bunker to the stuff I truly love, and moving out some of the bottles that didn't "wow" me or are readily available. I've been drinking Michter's 10, Larceny, and Smooth Ambler OS 7 year. I used up a bottle of Jefferson's small batch sousing some dried figs in a mason jar, and some Weller green cap in a batch of granny smith apples.

I like to use the decanter for my everyday pour (as Weller 12 is for me), but I'm just moving it from one glass 750mL container to another so I don't notice any taste difference.

had some KCSB while making a dinner of salmon, rice, and black beans....really hit the spot

and now I am having some Ezra 7, which is also really doing it for me

Larceny bottle was sitting next to WT101Rye, so I said what the hell and did a 50/50. Not bad at all.

Got a little violent with that cork!

I gave my dad this once a few years ago but I've never had it myself. I may sneak a nip next time I'm over there.
