Figured I'd stay old school tonight, and go with a pour of Fairfax County BIB to finish things off.

Spent the day working on the basement bathroom so it's been an evening of Eagle Rare 10, SB blend and EWSB while relaxing the night away. The wife thinks I'm crazy but apparently there's some Blanton's in her glass. Amazing how that happens!

HW Son of Bourye. First time I've tried one of these bourbon/rye blends and it's totally different than I expected. I was ready for what I assumed would taste like an incredibly high rye content bourbon, but if I didn't know what I was having I'd never guess what it was. Just a sample a buddy gave to me. I definitely want more, but at $55 a bottle? Not sure.

Having an unfortunate realization tonight after enjoying the heck out of AAA10year for the last few nights...

I'm almost out of it.

No seriously, I am, and I did a side-by-side with ETL, this, and Blanton's, and I prefered the AAA to any of them. Should have gotten more than a liter of this.

Four Roses Single Barrel, standard offering. Really great stuff. And some Evan Williams Single Barrel 2003. Also quite good.

First off welcome, and how is that FRSB in flavor? I got a mini the other day that was super light in color but just a complete honey/fruit bomb. I love it so much I wish I could get more. An open private-selected FRSB I have is the opposite, super dark, and a spice bomb with layers of chocolate/char, I like it too. Its real fun to taste these side-by-side.

Hello. This one has very nice light floral notes and a nice creamy mouthfeel. A bit of cool mint and caramel if I hold it on the tip of my tongue and draw some air over it. And some nice bourbon vanilla and a bit of wood. The overall presentation reminds me somewhat of an Old Crow BIB 1951 I had about a month ago. This seems to me more like some of the older style bourbon than any others i have had. From the bottle codes and label, it looks like a 2013 bottling, warehouse DN, Barrel 32-4L. I sort of want to hoard it, but I picked it up in another state. May need to bribe the relatives.

Took a bottle of Wathen's to a friends for dinner, but ended up drinking ECBS batch 2. Home now and contemplating some 4 roses...

Finishing off a EWSB 2002. This has been a really solid pour from start to finish. Always surprised me it was only 86.6 proof. Tons of flavor.

Having a vatting from a fellow board member's idea. 1:1 of EC12:ECBP137. Wow! This is amazingly good!

I'm going to try a small vatting of this in the next few days. I've enjoyed both bottles separately and imagine that this will be a pretty stellar combination.

You guys are just full of good ideas :).

Did a small FRSB taste-off with a private OBSV pick (100 proof) and an OESV, diluted to 100 proof. Easily distinguishable, but not a fair fight as the OB was just over 8 yrs old, and the OE was just past 12 yrs old. Both really nice pours, and I actually preferred the nose on the OB despite its youth. Similar to there being "no replacement for displacement", the age ultimately pushed the OE past its younger brother with a creamier mouthfeel and lovely finish. Even diluted, I still picked up notes of cherry, although not so much the chocolate I get with it at barrel proof. Just a splendid way to kill an hour on a sunny Sunday afternoon :D

Last few pours of ER10 barrel #162. Just caramel and BBQ sauce in the last bit. Love it.

A 1:1 vatting of WT101 w/ RRSmBSB followed by some VOB BiB 6yr. What a deal this VOB BiB is/was.

I just made a vatting of 60:40 EC12:ECBP133 - about 110 proof. Really nice. I liked the BP but felt it needed to be diluted to enjoy it.
