Red One
Just poured some FRSmB. Then noticed that my son hit the CEHT 1B pretty hard yesterday watching the playoffs and it's probably down to one pour. Oh well, guess I'll be forced to finish that off tonight. MyOldKyDram
HHSS again tonight, neat. Been a different pour every time I've had it, each one better than the last. I remain amazed at how in control the heat is at this proof, and the finish is just the gift that keeps giving. I'm even getting the peanut butter note tonight that so many have mentioned! Grain Belt
Old Crow Reserve. First in a Manhattan with my beautiful wife and then finishing a little on the rocks. Proof there is no such thing as bad bourbon. Some is just better than others. I got a handle for $14 a year and a half ago at a store in the Twin Cities that has unbelievable cash only deals but never got around to opening it. I must have been too busy trying high buck stuff. Decided to get back to my bottom shelf roots. It is not great, but is certainly palatable. I don't think you will catch me with this in a snifter talking about my time in the Foreign Legion. However, you will catch me with some ginger ale and a few shakes of bitters watching some college b-ball. The Manhattans with a little M & R sweet vermouth and about four shakes of Angustora were more than drinkable. My next low shelfer might be some Benchmark. The same store where I got the Crow has it for $12.88 a handle. If I remember correctly it wasn't terrible.

393foureyedfox
thats a cool lookin bottle, but I bet its kind of a PITA to keep on the shelf with the others.on topic, some Ezra 7/101. Finish polishing off this, the Dickel 12, and the OGD 114 over the next few weeks and get back to just my favorites and not so many near-empties on the desk. zillah
Made an OGD114 Old Fashioned with triple bitters (angostura, peychauds and orange) then finishing up with the usual ETL.

mosugoji64
It's a HH cranked up to 11 night with some HHSS (WOW!) and ECBP 134.2. I've always said that HH whiskies sing at higher proofs and these two make for a full choir and orchestra. Delicious! :bowdown:Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Eskwar
Tonight, a little SBS: brand-new Weller 12 vs VSOF 12 (new-ish, bottled in '09). Removing price from the equation, W 12 is better to me, as the VSOF is tarter (in a good way), but also thinner and hotter. W 12 did have the soot-ier nose, but I like that aspect. When you consider price, though, I do wonder why anyone would opt for the VSOF.Last night was recovery from Girl Scout Cookie Madness (Championship Sunday w/ Manning, Brady et al. [those guys again?] takes a backseat to my wife's first year running cookie sales for our 7-yo's Daisy Troop): buncha Myers' Dark cocktails, followed by a surprisingly excellent WTKS '06 (embossed dark top) and the end of a WTAS. Then, plain ol' OGD 114, which had trouble following the opening acts.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
corpse_welder
I'm finishing off a bottle of Jim Beam Devil's Cut, which I enjoyed a bit at first but I would not buy again. I liked the gimmick and bottle but it did not deliver. I also apparently burned the roof of my mouth earlier and the bourbon is not forgiving. HighInTheMtns
I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop pouring HHSS until the bottle is empty. So. Good.

jeffrey r
Had my first pour of 1792 last night. Bought a couple of bottles solely because they were the only remaining age stated bottles I had seen recently. Crazy how quick (and sneakily) these age statements get removed. Anyway, as to the pour, I was pleasantly surprised based upon the very mixed reviews for 1792. Not my favorite, but for under $30, definitely an interesting pour that I won't have an issue drinking from time to time. I can definitely taste the Barton familial resemblance with VOB.
