link on the "improved AAA10year"? Curious about that as its already pretty much one of my favorite pours.

Here is the link to Ralfy's whiskey improvement video (it is a two-parter)

I choose AAA 10yr not because it necessarily needed improvement, but I had enough of it to spare for the experiment. I used a birch stick, and soaked it in rum/Frangelico. The stick smells amazing, and I loved what it did to the nose. But not the palate. Maybe in time it will improve - but if not, it's going in whiskey sours :)

Had another pour of 1792 8yr last night. I had held off on purchasing 1792 for years due to the inconsistent reviews. The loss of the age statement got me off my butt, and I purchased three bottles of the age stated. Glad I tried it for myself, as I like it. Don't love it, but I'd say it is worth the under $30 it goes for. I get some of the familial resemblance to VOB.

It was a rye night for me (THH '13 and Willet 4yr), but I had the pleasure of introducing a friend who is relatively new to some bourbons that are a few steps above Woodford which is his only frame of reference. We had EH Taylor Small Batch, 4R BP Single Barrel OESK, and PVW 15. It was fun to watch his eyes light up at the flavors and to see him recognizing the differences in flavors between the 3.

Vatting of Bernheim Wheat and High West Double Rye!. Trying to kill off the BWW that has been open 9-10 months-my "dustiest" open. Interesting but will let it marry a bit before passing judgment.

Enjoyed some ND OGD BiB from '82 with a friend last night. Followed up with some small pours of PVW15 and a SB/WLW blend. Pretty good tasting night overall.

Thought I'd swing back to WTRB tonight and give it a try. Not bad, but I've yet to find a WT that I'd have as a regular pour. Probably need to try some of the special releases.

Tonight I thought I'd drink a little of my Old Forester 125 proof. I wish this was a regular offering.

After a long weekend of drinking overpriced hotel Knob Creek, albeit on the in-laws tab , its nice to being back to having a slightly larger section at the home bar.

Rounding down the a bottle of Stagg Jr. , about 1 pour remaining in it after this one.

After spending 30 minutes carving the mold off of a block of cheese that got lost in the refrigerator, I'm rewarding myself with a 3 finger pour of Blanton's.

Been in the field the last week with a couple of my graduate students, tonight we had an impromptu bourbon tasting, nothing fancy is really available in the area, but we had BT, Bulleit, Bulleit Rye, and EWSB 2004. I think two more bottles of the EWSB will be sold at the local purveyor tomorrow :)

I agree with Max. Had some E.H Taylor small batch and WTRB and for the money rare breed is hard to beat for my tastes.

I had a couple healthy pours of a store selected 8 yo 1792 last night (very nice!), and for the third one decided it needed a little power boost. I added a splash of OGD114 to about 2 fingers of the 1792 in a Glencairn, swirled it and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

The result was NOT worth the effort. Cross this one off your list.

Two really nice pours of Booker's neat. Really luscious and chewy with depth of flavor that evolves over a nice long finish.
