MyOldKyDram
Cool. Will do! And yeah, usually when I'm running low and its nowhere to be found here, I head up your way. May be time to visit the in-laws again...
Anex
Have you done a SbS with the current yet? I like the "current" (2009-2010) bottles I have now but I like the older stuff better.

393foureyedfox
Sipping some HH BiB 6 yr. A much better pour than the Noah's Mill I just polished off.i agree with that assessment
horn1602
Enjoying my first ever pour of OGD114. It was a bit heavy-handed (a bit over 1/2 of a Glencairn), but I'm not gonna complain - this is a nice bourbon.

Then it got worse. If I am looking for the earlier OWA that taste better than the current bottling but have the same bottling and label, what should I be looking for? Is it a number on the bottom on the bottle or bar code on the label and what should it be to be within the range of the good ones? Thanks in advance for any help! upStomp
finished studying for the day, and am gonna have some Dickel 9 and watch some Sons of Anarchy. When the hell is Netflix gonna put the rest of Breaking Bad and Psych on?!I was digging on some Dickel 9 myself last night. I didn't like the first pour from the bottle, but it has definitely grown on me since airing out a bit. I don't think I like it enough to purchase again at that price, but I'm interested enough now to try some of their standard offerings. It's funny - when saw a lot of SBers talking about the vitamin flavor in Dickel, I always assumed "Flintstones", but now I know it's more of a horse-pill vitamin or unsweetened protein shake flavor. While I'm not a huge fan of the flavor note itself, it does add a level of complexity and is something I now hunt for in the finish.
BigRich
Last night was a delicious glass fo 4RSB from a local liquor store. Today, since I'm iced in there will probably be a few.

Thanks in advance for any help!I suppose the most obvious thing is the loss of the age statement. OWA in the current bottle shape still noted it was 7 years old until the past what, 18-24 months or so? Might still be a few around. All paper label OWA in the older style bottle is at least 7yo but there is an entire thread on how to date those.

roaringboy
Took a punt on a bottle of Rowan's Creek small batch as amazon had it with free delivery. Had some neat last night in a Glencairn. Very impressed. It's not one I've seen much about on SB. Believe it's from Whillett, isn't it? Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk
squire
Yes, it's a Willett brand that get's mentioned here from time to time, a forum search should turn up some posts. Is it popular there?
roaringboy
No, not really. Only bourbon regularly available in pubs over here is Jim Beam. Every pub has JD as well. If you're lucky you might find Makers, Buffalo or Knob Creek but they're few and far between. Funnily enough two of my local haunts have dusty bottles of Woodfordes but I'm not a fan! Finished off my own bottle over xmas and won't be replacing it.Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk

Keep at it!I still dont know what the hell people are talking about with the 'vitamin' taste. But, I dont get Beam "funk" either.

I've never picked up on the "Beam Funk" either. I hear if you get it, there's an ointment.
