tigerlam92
I suggest you do. OWA and W12 are worlds apart in flavor and viscosity. No you are not alone. Weller 12 is on the bottom of the bourbon list for me too except for bottles more than 10 years old. Like Joe said . . . I can't drink either by itself that much as well but when put together as a SB blend, I love it. . Took me a long time to try the blend as I was hesitant for a while. 393foureyedfox
Had a nice V-day dinner with Mrs. Fox at one of our favorite places. They offer a flight of 3 bourbons for $15 (unless you want Pappy, etc), so I like to take the opportunity to try 3 new ones when we go there. Tonight, I got Bernheim Wheat, Russell's Reserve 10 year, and Weller 12 ( I cant recall when I last saw W12, but never have had it).I'd have to rank them best to least as: W12, RR10, and BW. I didnt care much for the BW, and enjoyed the RR10 until I got to the W12. I thought at first they may have gotten them mixed up between RR and W12, as i thought RR10 was supposed to be 110 proof, but looking now I see that it's the RR single barrel that is 110 proof. For both being 90 proof, the W12 seemed higher in proof, with a better finish than the RR. Going into it, I expected I wouldve ranked them as RR, then W12, then BW. nice to learn 3 more bourbons/whiskies!

FlounderinDC
Had a couple of pours of Jefferson's. Got it as a gift, it is ok, not great but gets the job done. Want to finish it so I can replace it with something else. Finishing the evening with a pour of Four Roses Small Batch.
FlounderinDC
a bit of WTRB, have to say this is my favorite go-to.I've been hoarding a bottle signed by Jimmy Russell. I've been waiting to crack it open when some bourbon loving friends are in town, but I might just have to stop waiting and open the damn thing. DrBob
One nice thing about rare breed is its modest price, I always have a spare bottle. you could just buy a fresh one if you want to save the signed one. OscarV
Pulled an Old Rip Van Winkle 10/107 to mix with some 2013 WLarueW last week. Now I am spending some time with just the Old Rip.I assumed that it was from the Spring 2011 releases but the bottom bottle date says 10.Could have been a left over bottle from Fall 2010 or a mixed up bottle at the store. But anyway it's very good, I'm getting some toffee and that's what I like most about some these Old Rip's. Old Dusty
Had a little tasting on Saturday to combat Old Man Winter's icy grip. The pic was taken before several more bottles made their way into the bar including an ORVW 15/107, HHSS and a Bourbon of the Month Old Scout 11. Happy to report our personal warmth was greatly improved.

r60slash5
KCSBR single store select 120 proof while watching Jim Rutledge on youtube (BrandyLibrary). Enjoying both immensely. Now I've got to look up fusel oil. Which is leading me to "Understanding Cogeners in Wine". You got to love this interweb thing! Ted
mbroo5880i
Working on emptying some bottles. Tonight's emptied bottle was ECBP, Batch #2. I added a little water to get it down to 110 proof. Let it sit in the bottle all day and now enjoying it. EC12 at 110 to 115 proof is pretty good!

mosugoji64
Made a poor-man's PHC 6th with some Larceny and HH 6yr BIB. While it didn't have the barrel-proof kick, the flavor was spot on. Think I might do that one again! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Paddy
Close to three fingers of ETL tonight. For me, this bottle was off (a little hot) the first couple of pours. I admit to a slight fear that the profile had changed since my last purchase (prior to Mr. Lee's passing). Thankfully, this bottle opened up to reveal all of its former glory tonight. Spot on! DrBob
LAst night had WTRB followed by RRSB. Had just half a pour left of the WTRB tonight so mixed it 50/50 with the RRSB. Not sure its better than the sum of the parts but since the parts are so good, it still tastes pretty good. Definitely have a dominance of the wood from the RRSB. hn4bourbon
Cracked open my first bottle of Colonel EH Taylor Barrel Proof tonight. Sipping on the first pour now. This is amazing stuff! I might have to go back to get a couple more. I liked the single barrel version very much and this barrel proof is amazing as well! It's so easy to sip on, I don't even have to cut it with any water. hn4bourbon
are you guys saying the new ETL is hitting shelves now?No idea if these are new ETLs. Just saying that I had the same fear that a new bottle I purchase would be different. The first couple pours tasted off but I'm hoping it opens up after a little bit.
