Hey All, 1st post!

Loving WL Weller 107. Been through many excellent Bourbons, but price and taste converge for a perfect taste treat with the 107. Creamy and so smooth, amazing for a 107 proof.

What is it about being heavier on the OWA that is more appealing to you? I currently have a 50:50 blend that is not working for me and I'm trying to decide which one of the two to add.

What is it about being heavier on the OWA that is more appealing to you? I currently have a 50:50 blend that is not working for me and I'm trying to decide which one of the two to add.

When I first tried the SB Blend, I tried it at 50/50, and 60/40 each way - and after several comparisons I consistently favored the 60/40 with more OWA. I think it tends to be heavier on the sweet, and less woody - which seems to just hit my (sorry for the pun) sweet spot. For my taste buddies, it was the best balance of those three, so I ran with it. Just recently decided to try some other variations, and found that the 70/30 might be even better. I won't lie - the availability of W12 (and my estimation of its future availability) drove me to try this ratio, since it would stretch a W12 further. Honestly, when I did the side by side, the 60/40 seemed to have more bite to me (confusing, I know) and I thought the 70/30 was more balanced. I assumed they were the opposites of what they were, so definitely want to give this another couple more rounds (on any given night, who knows).

My recommendation - make some small samples and try the 60/40 (or 66/33, etc) in both directions and see which you prefer. I enjoyed the 50/50, but after increasing the OWA side, I've never looked back. Which isn't to say I won't at some point in the future :)

I'm having some more Booker's 25th. It's growing on me. I may have to track down a spare. I still can't believe Beam made it.

Michael, you kill me! I love how you randomly have the whole flipping BHC on a specialized display just kind of hanging around as background filler. You are a one of a kind hunter and are to be commended. And I need to visit your bourbon dusty Hall of Fame:grin:

Opened my bookers 25 tonight. Wow the heat up front. Rich leathery nose. Letting it open for a bit And the heat is calming down. Also a beautiful dark color in the glass.

OFBB13 tonight. I have loved this in the past, tonight ehhhhhh. OK at best. Strange how different it tastes from night to night. Even the nose seemed off. Same bottle, just an off night I guess

It's been a long day at work.

Came home gulped down a quick SB blend.

Then decided to pop another bottle of PVW20 open. Looks to be an 09 bottle. I usually have one open but my last bottle was gone maybe six months ago. Nice treat and playing with my baby boy.

Got a 94 on my final lecture test today, and treated myself to a marathon of binge watching the last half of the last season of Breaking Bad (Netflix finally put it up!), and now enjoying HH6BIB. Im enjoying this stuff more and more all the time!

And BB got better and better every season. Such great acting, writing, and camera work....I dont think another show will ever match that combo again.

Homing in on the end of a bottle of Wathen's SB. It a decent whiskey, just not in the same league with others in its price range like WTRB, so its been easy to get distracted from clearing it from the shelf.

Read that post of Chuck's about the mysterious provenence of Bulleit. I am vatting different ratios of WT101 and FRYL to see what I can find. I've always thought that Bulleit was not even that similar to FRYL.

I was up extraordinarily late last night with a friend visiting for just 1 night - he sampled every bottle I currently have open but I stuck to Lot B and PVW 15.

I've had a 375 ml of MM in my cabinet that I hand dipped myself at the distillery way back in 2007 at my first KBF. After hearing (and posting) about the news of the planned expansion at MM, I decided to open it up and have a pour. It's sad in away, but with all the other bourbons I have, my MM's keep getting lost in the shuffle. I keep forgetting just how decent MM really is. I know it doesn't get much love here on the site, but all in all, I think it's a pretty decent bourbon.
