I've had a 375 ml of MM in my cabinet that I hand dipped myself at the distillery way back in 2007 at my first KBF. After hearing (and posting) about the news of the planned expansion at MM, I decided to open it up and have a pour. It's sad in away, but with all the other bourbons I have, my MM's keep getting lost in the shuffle. I keep forgetting just how decent MM really is. I know it doesn't get much love here on the site, but all in all, I think it's a pretty decent bourbon.

Joe, I agree with you. I agree prefer MM to WSR. I have done a SBS with both pours and the MM is well ahead of the WSR. I have not done one with WSR7, but I'll leave that for another day.

Yessir Joe, Maker's is a wonderful bourbon in my book. Always on my bar. And, I drink it often.

Now, I'm moving on to a my local selected barrel of EC12.

No bourbon tonight, but Green Spot Irish and Old Scout CS 8 yr old rye.

Tough day and tough week at work. Going for some good stuff tonight. Just started out with a healthy pour of HHSS. Superb as usual. Got some Lot B and 4R OBSO lined up next.

A young friend of mine was talking bourbon with me today and told me he made a great find of a MM handle for $42. I told him that was a great deal and he should buy it. He told me he already did. We haven't seen much of a shortage or significant price increases in Indy...yet.

Started the evening with a pour of Smooth Ambler, the BOTM. I wanted to open my bottle and post notes before the end of the month! I posted notes in that thread. Following up with a pour of Rendezvous Rye. I will probably have a night cap and then get some rest before fighting the pre-winter storm crowds at the stores tomorrow.

Started off with some Binny's FR Barrel Select OESK and now onto a big pour of 2011 GTS. Thinking this one is going to take me through the night...

Just cracked open Weller 7 yo, must say for a buck more then Rebel Yell it's a no brainer. Nice smooth bourbon.

Got the weekend off to a great start with a great dinner with a beautiful woman (and luscious two finger pour of Blanton's).

Couldn't decide what to break a seal on so I didn't. Double pour of my basic neat - JB 8yr - which was already open. I was lucky, wasn't I, and didn't have to decide anything. May have a third to celebrate. And so to bed.

If its a newer Weller Antique, it is probably more like 6 years and whatever months. Older Antique, most likely actually 7yrs.

I am finishing off a new Weller Antique tonight. Most likely less than 7yrs. But still very good, and I will continue buying it. I dig this stuff.

Finished off my little sample of WT101 and am wishing I had more. Now on to JPS 21yr. and while I like it, it's not worth the incredible price hike over that little sample of WT101. The things you learn......

finishing off the last half of the 50ml Blantons a classmate gave me. Quite nice tonight, more so than I remembered it. The initial taste is sweet and very agreeable, it just falls off too quickly after swallowing. It's an enjoyable pour tonight, but not something Id pay $55 a bottle for.

That's been my experience with bourbon in general... I figured out that if I do reach for bourbon, my palate is satisfied with the cheaper expressions.

thats a good "problem" to have, chainwhip!

Ive thoroughly enjoyed a $10 bottle of HH6BIB the last few weeks, and makes you think twice about buying that new $50 bottle of 'X' to take home and try.

I used to say Bookers was my favorite, but I think after this bottle is gone, Bookers will just go back to being my nice-restaurant dinner treat and not keep a bottle at home anymore, as I go through it very slowly anyway. Plus, Im not sure it is really 5x better or 5x m ore enjoyable than that HH6, cince I have to be in the mood for it and even then it may actually be like 3x better, not 5.

If youve got a cheapie you love, go for it. No need to buy more expensive stuff because someone else says it is better.

Still cleaning house and working on a bottle of Gentleman Jack that needs to go. For comparison sake, I had a glass of No. 7 after and I find it much better than GJ, which is far too smooth for me. Now if only No. 7 were around 90-100 proof I would love it...

While it has been a while since I have had Jack, I do remember GJ being my LEAST favorite. Have you tried the Single Barrel? I think it's around 94 proof.

Stagg Jr tonight. I really do like this stuff.

I go through phases with stagg jr, some nights I love it and some nights not to much. Right now I'm in the phase of thinking I bought wayyyy too many bottles of it, just taking up much needed space in the bunker.
