Don't normally drink during the week but I am having a pour to wind down midway through a cold week. Another artic blast just passed through. Temperatures heading below zero again. Enjoying a pour of WFE 8-Yr (117.6 proof). A little hot on the entry and then it melts into a nice cherry, woody finish.

EWSB 04 warming things up on a night with wind chills below zero.

It seems I will be making a trip to see a customer in Alabama, very shortly. I am sipping on a pour from a newly opened, and to my horror, last bottle of Virgin 7yr 101. Great sippin' whiskey, neat. Great on ice. Great with ginger ale. Just, great. :yum:

A pour if beam distiller's select 7/90. It has a nice fruity sweet nose, and the taste is not dissimilar. It is a bit thin, and a fairly short finish which is all vanilla. Doesn't stand up well to even small amounts of water.

It doesn't really taste like baker's or kirkland, going off memory, but i do plan a proofed to 90 side by side in the near future with all three.

A local store has alot of this available.

I liked the Beam 7/90 a little better than the black label. It doesn't really fit into the other Beam profiles, as you say.

I'm moving on to the last of some WT101. not sorry to see this one go.

I was hoping that you'd be somewhere that might have dusties, but I doubt that area would have anything other than dusty factory outlet stores.

Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed my 2002. It's still on the shelves at Seattle area Total Wines if you feel the need to get more.

1 dram of OWA, 1 dram of AE, 1 dram of EC12 barrel select. OWA doesn't amaze me in any way. Gentle and easy to drink is all I can say. Relative pleasant nose, dried plums and sweet light honey. Tastes of light grapefruit and honey. Haven't had the AE for a while, nose of artificial bananas and dried fruit sweetness. Tastes similar to nose. EC12 has more wood and wood dust than other 2. Citrusy sweetness in background to the oak. Tastes of water down grape soda and oak tanines.

Had an absolutely stellar ERSB with a friend in LA tonight. He's not even a big bourbon guy. Someone had gifted him a bottle. The choice was Woodford or the ER. We chose right. It was dark, smoky, amazing. Some nights you just get lucky!

Wyoming Whiskey just appeared in Utah, so I tried some at the local bar, glad I didn't have to spring for a whole bottle. Tastes like a smoother, more buttery Beam white label, but just as young. Not even sure what a 750 would go for, but I'll bet it is a "craft" price.

It's something like forty bucks in WY. I don't know that they'll be distributing here regularly, I got the idea this is a Sundance thing.

I've been waiting for snow, to go play in it with the newly true-four-wheel-drive 4x4, and when we finally got some, a brake line decided to burst. So, it is 10 degrees today, for a high, and I'm out replacing them all. Damn its cold! Bourbon doesn't freeze, so if I drink enough before hand, I ought to be alright, right? Better hit the barrel proofers to be sure......
