I do love those old oily, sweet, woody barrels.

I struggle with the woodiness of the Hirsch22 can't imagine what three more years in the barrel is like. But as they often say around here YMMV.

Choking down some more Noah's Mill. I will be done with the bottle soon. Although this has been a disappointing bottle, it sure makes you appreciate the good ones.

wouldnt it then just be regular 'ol Knob Creek (9 years and 100 proof)?

nothing gets past you :)

tonight I continued my self-punishment by trying a mini of Jacobs Ghost. I can't find much to like here. Like tequila blanco but not as good. Glad it only set me back a buck.

Jerrod, you should start a "Bad Bottle Support Thread". We can talk each other through the tough ones:grin:

Comparing FR Single Barrel and Blanton's tonight. Both are certainly good. But I think the FR might win the battle based on the quality of the juice for the price.

Tonight in a bar w a nice selection-bourbon:PHC 5th, rye:THH 2012, and scotch:Aberlour A'bunadh batch 39. Interesting evening of sipping.

FR1B and then WFE 7 year. I keep going back to this combo. WFE is almost empty though.

Had some FR Barrel Select OESK before dinner out with my wife and a friend. Now moved onto some PHC7 as a nightcap.

The OESK is down about half and has really opened up from when I first cracked it. Hard to find a better value in bourbon right now than the FR Barrel Selects.

I second your opinion of the BS 4R's. I've been back into the the GS OBSO tonight. It has everything you could ask of a great bourbon....high alcohol content, great nose and a lingering finish with very layered hints of vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, honey, oak and spice.

A delicate symphony of wonderful notes revealing themselves it is, with none overreaching and/or stepping on the other(s).

Warming up with OGD 117, first time I have had this. Following some advice from other threads, I added a little water and a ice cube. Very good stuff!!

I'm never one to listen, well more of the fact I have no wheaters currently open in the same proof frame so ND OGD 86 and OCPR were next in line. The varying difference in the flavor grain actually proved to be a rather enjoyable experience........I know such a rebel.

Ryan, you aren't a rebel, just a four grain zen master!

I'm having a mingling of OFS100, Stagg Jr. and 4RYL in about equal parts. Comes out about 106 proof and delicious.

Trying to decide what to go with from the "special occasion" shelf. Having the Seahawks in the big game calls for the best. Lot B, PVW15, THH, and Stagg are all contending. (Well, Lot B will be the prelude).
