TunnelTiger
Picked up 3 more OGD114 for $19.99 on sale.Great price, walked away from some @ $26.99 just the other day.
Bluffhunter
Id sell the rest of my bottle of OGD114 purchased at $22. Tried and dont see the fanfare on it at all but thats just my taste, was suprised since I like FRSB and other FR expressions with higher rye. OGD 114 is the only one Ive noticed so far that I dont like when I open the bottle, but after it sits (open) for a few days, it becomes quite nice. Some people dont believe oxygen changed whiskey, but on this one, I disagree. But, I am no chemist

Just like a pour you leave in a glass overnight. I didn't know anyone actually did that. What I don't buy is that it changes just because you crack the seal and pour a little out once a month for a year....and I overpaid for an ORVW @ $55 yesterday. I'll just have to drown my sorrows in a really good wheater.

petrel800
Grabbed another one of the local store selection 4RSBs (100 proof OBSV). I have found this one to be impressively balanced from entry to finish and want to make sure I have an extra bottle. They did a good job with this one. In my opinion, it greatly outshines their Barrel Strength offering.

Never believed in open bottles changing that much but this one did for sure. The first couple pours I had at first opening of the bottle were just OK and didn't see the fuss over it. I revisited the half full bottle after ~6 months and it was outstanding. Enough so that I immediately went and got another bottle for the bunker.Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

Kid A
Bought a handle of Old Charter 12 "classic 90" for $47.99. Should I buy the other bottle they had? Also found multiple VOB 6 year 100 and 86. Is the 100 a good one to bunker multiple bottles?New to the forum, and I really appreciate any feedback. Thanks. Eskwar
Yes and Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (emphasis in an attempt to both get 16 characters and because that is how enthusiastic I am about both pours)Concur on all points. We're at a point where the VOB BiB *should* be diminishing in its character only incrementally, whereas the OC 12/90 is a true Classic, having been axed half a dozen years ago, and for which there is no real current successor. Plus, they're both delicious, yet totally different.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
smknjoe
Okay, I'll be the one to say it...try it before you buy more. You may or may not like it.
Kid A
I really appreciate the responses. I'm drinking the VOB 6 year 86 right now and it's a bit underwhelming. I'm sure the 100 is much better, so I'll buy a couple of bottles and try it. Definitely going to buy the other bottle of Old Charter 12 tomorrow. Thanks again for the input. smknjoe
The OC 12 was underwhelming to me. Solid pour, but a bit overrated to my taste.

Kpiz
petrel, out of curiosity, what's the age on the store selection FRSB you're digging? I picked up a bottle from a shop near me that's 8.5 years, I'm pretty excited to try it. I didn't realize FR has barrels that old to choose from if the store is going the 100 proof route. horn1602
Yesterday grabbed an OGD114 for $22 (haven't tried this yet, but am anxious to clear out a few open bottles to make room for it on the 'open' shelf), a BTBS for $20 (second bottle of this, the first was very nice), and EWSB '03 for $27 (best price I've seen locally). petrel800
Forgot to mention as well, I grabbed a bottle of the Dickel 9 yr Select. First one I've come across, more curiosity than anything. Hope a fool (me) didn't get parted from his money, but as with anything, sometimes you just have to enjoy the ride.
garbanzobean
I stopped by a place near my house that is guilty of obscene price gouging for ORVW/PVW/BTAC. Their owner was just getting finished putting up 3x 2013 Old Forester Birthday Bourbons @$52.99. Now, this is normally where I would interject and get on my high horse about only buying 1 limited edition bourbon at a time and saving some for others to hunt, but I harbor no such loyalties for a store that wants to charge $800 for PVW20, $299 for ER17, and $375 for VWFRR. So I cleaned them out, and now have two to give to two close friends who are also huge bourbon enthusiasts. And an extra for myself, which I just opened. I see what you guys are saying about the nose on this.
