Not bourbon but close enough. 2002 bottle of Jack Daniels Black Label, 1.75L, 86 proof.

Jack really screwed up when they lowered the proof to 80 in 2004.

Got that nice rich, maple syrup flavor without being thin.

Just 2 days ago I picked up WL Weller Special Reserve. Never had it before and I am praying that I LOVE it because the price is great at $20. That gets my bunker to 32 bottles so I have to start drinking more often and faster.

Just came back in from my Friday lunchtime spirits run and collected a bottle of FRSB barrel strength store selection and a bottle of Blantons. Was hoping for a bottle of CEHT SB but none to be found this time.

I was gifted a bottle of Old Scout 5 year and a bottle of CEHT SmB.

Not a bad week.

So, I took a lunch trip to pick up a bottle of Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask Reserve as a birthday gift for a friend.

Even though I confirmed it with the store beforehand, when I arrived, they said they had never had any.

I would have just left except for the fact I still needed to pick up a gift (ended up with the Cask of Dreams instead), and the manager was very apologetic.

Anyway, I ended up biting the bullet and getting myself a bottle of Garrison Brothers Texas Straight bourbon Whiskey.

I know the overwhelming opinion seems to be it's not worth the price, but I just feel the need to try it for myself.

Good for you. See too many people (not here, necessarily) criticizing whiskeys (and other things) that they've never had themselves, but rather just regurgitating others' opinions. Try everything for yourself, otherwise you'll never know if YOU like it.

I love this attitude. 50 out of 50 people can tell you the same thing about any whiskey...and, it shouldn't mean doodly-squat to YOU. YOU won't know until YOU try it. Well Done!

Old scout 7 year old cask strength single barrel. 111 proof but tasty.

Also tried kyjd75's old scout 8 year barrel strength rye. Damn tasty. That ones a winner.

Old Forester Signature 100 proof - first time seeing it around here and liked a 200ml I bought in KY

EWSB 2003 L&K Selection - bottled 2 months shy of 10 years - would love to see these as BiB!

Passed over the L&K Jeffersons 10yr Rye and L&K BT bottlings - hope they hang around a bit longer. Missed out on their ER10 which I heard was excellent, but over the New Year picked up a couple bottles of the L&K ETL bottling. Haven't opened that one yet, maybe tonight!

Wow, I'm blushing from all the love shown in this thread, just because I chose to "see for myself".

On a less enthusiastic note, I've gotta' say so far I'm not too pleased with my purchase. (Garrison Bros).

The corn is strong with this one (even more than expected). Was hoping to get some interesting new flavor notes from their "red-winter wheat", but so far it's all corn.

The first pour got my go-to mixer added to it pretty quickly (Simply Lemonade), but I'm thinking now, I'd have been better off sparing the lemonade and going with Coke Zero instead.

I'll definitely revisit the bottle, but at this point I'm kind of wishing I'd have tried the Noah's Mill that was sitting nearby on the shelf.

Still, I'll be curious to see what the GB will be like with a few more years in the barrel.

Was in Florida this past weekend picked up a few things I can't get up here, but I thought the select was pretty skimpy. Whiskey River, Johnny Drum Reserve, OGD 114, and Old Scout 7 year old.

Found a lone ECBP 133.2 sitting on the shelf....last one in store...those went quick in these parts! Also, a local 4R Pvt SB, 55.9% ABV, OESK, just shy of 10yo...looked too yummy to pass up.

Stopped in a dumpy little local store that had pretty much one bottle of each brand that they had: one each of the Beam small batch collection, a JD single barrel, MM, MM46, and two or three of JD, Beam White, and Michael Collins. And huge gaps in the shelf. I felt kind of bad and since they are essentially my neighbors I bought a liter of Beam white. It's better than I expected (not as good as 20 years ago) and I won't mind using it for mixers, vattings, or even neat.
