ETL x 4 I haven't been able to find any in Dallas and one store told me it was discontinued due to his passing last year. Don't know if it's true but searches on line found none in most every state. So thank you ABC in VA.

Half-true... They are re-releasing it with a new proof, should hit shelves later this month...

Thanks to a tip from a fellow SB'er, I stocked up on Weller 12 for the next long while! Also picked up a local store EC12 pick.

Misinformation there. ETL has not been discontinued and they are coming out with a special release. I have not heard any evidence that the SR will permanently replace the standard offering.

So any ideas what's up with everyone being out of stock? Are they working on a new higher priced version?

All major chains in Texas are out. The big Internet sellers are all out in every state I've checked. Search engines all came up empty till I walked into an ABC store today.

Temporary blip in the supply chain related to (a) the forthcoming one-off special release and (B) the general and previously announced Buffalo Trace shortages in general.

BT will have periodic rolling shortages on all of its premium products. They warned of this about a year ago.

They haven't officially announced the ETL special edition.

Picked up a ER10 and was blown away by it for $25, better than standard BT, at least this certain bottle. Nice sweet taste, thicker mouth feel and decent finish for a 90 proofer.

It really doesn't get the credit it often deserves. Especially a good value when you can get a handle of it for round $45!

treated myself to one new bottle of something after the test, so I went to the big chain store land looked around, and decided on the MM46 on sale for $32. Runner up wouldve been the store selected EC12.

Before the Mrs took me out for my yearly birthday dinner tonight we stopped by a local store and saw the Barterhouse ($74) and Old Blowhard ($150). I couldn't help but indulge my curiosity and picked up the Barterhouse. At $3.70 per year that this sat in a barrel I convinced myself that it was worth a try. Too much already open to open it tonight, but looking forward to giving it a shot sometime soon.

Wasn't particularly interested in the Old Blowhard at that price, especially given what I've read about it thus far.

I'm a happy boy today. Bought 6 liters of AAA 10yr bottled in 2007 for $18.99 each and 2 bottles of Old Ezra 7 yr 101 for $14.99 each. The AAA is one of my favorite low buck bourbons and I wasn't sure I'd ever find any of it again

Nice! Glad you found them. Ya had better luck than I did, obviously. Haven't seen a drop around for quite awhile. Must not have looked in the right places. Good on ya.

Super jealous of being able to buy AAA! I need a road trip to Ky. Wife wouldn't approve! Ha...

Today I bought a bottle of Trader Joe's Kentucky Bourbon. I'm there all the time, my kid works there and saw it on the shelf today, it's new at this store. Did a quick search and read a thread about it from last year. What the heck. I know ultimately I will drink it no matter what. $15.

This week I picked up two bottles of Weller 12 from different stores, and they were both on the wrong side of average. Neither one had the extreme bitter soot aftertaste, so they might work for blending. On the plus side, I was able to use Buffalo Trace's current lack of quality control to explain to my wife why it is important to buy in bulk whenever you find something good. Then we went and picked up 3 liters of paper label Old Weller Antique.

Grabbed 3 EC12 store selections that SmokinJoe helped select. Considering I was the only other genius to agree with Joe at the GBS meeting that batch 3 was the best ECBP, these should be spectacular.

I grabbed one earlier this week too, but haven't tried it yet. Now that you mention the selection committee, I might have to dig up my receipt
