flahute
Yellow Stone Mellow Mash 7 yr. to finish things off. A wonderful mixture of caramel and cured pipe tobacco, with that old timey rumminess/raisiny thing going on. Beautiful stuff. What the heck is that?I did a quick google and it looks like a discontinued product. Was this an independent distillery or a discontinued brand from one of the current ones? TunnelTiger
Finished off the Mitcher's and went straight to work on CETHSmb while watching Amish Mafia with the wife. I really enjoy all CETH variations but the purchase price is getting to the point of dminishing returns.

garbanzobean
Hi-times selected 4RSB Barrel Proof (OESO, 10 years and 8 months old, 57.3% ABV, Warehouse BN, and Barrel 31-3Q). I'm not sure if all of their bottles are signed by Mr. Rutledge, but mine was. Pretty cool. At any rate, this is my first pour from the bottle, but so far the nose is a blast of fudge with some oak and rye spice, and the palate is more fudge, Christmas spices, and a bit of red fruit at the end. Finish is long and all fudge. I don't quite get the creaminess of OBSV, but it is still quite velvety on the tongue. I can see why OESO is their house barrel proof. Really an outstanding pour, and a real morale boost after the absolutely horrible past two days I've had at work.
smokinjoe
What the heck is that?I did a quick google and it looks like a discontinued product. Was this an independent distillery or a discontinued brand from one of the current ones?Yellow Stone was a brand that was owned by the Glenmore Distillery, and was a solid brand until the eventual of the distillery, and the eventual degradation of it by its new owners. Before that, the "Mellow Mash" was a line extension of Yellow Stone and was considered a step up. Eventually, they dropped the Yellow Stone name from it, and is became simply "Mellow Mash". All of this info is courtesy of a post by Chuck Cowdery (who else), from several years ago.My bottle is dated 1982, and is the original iteration. It is very nice whiskey that I enjoy dipping in to from time, to time. Has many of the characteristics of the bourbons from that era, particularly the raisiny/rumminess. smokinjoe
Tonight, listening to the Braves on the radio with a pour of '13 PHC POH. Stunningly delicious this evening. It's oozing with a mixture of Goetze's Caramel Creams and Bit-o-Honey candies. Touch...of orange peel on the finish. This is a freakin' dessert!! :yum: I have been a fan of the '13 PHC since my first sip of it months ago. But, this was a new experience, this evening. My taster has been a little whacky lately. To that point, the usually reliable EC21 hit me absolutely badly, the other night. But, My palate schizophrenia has been rewarded tonight by taking this very good whiskey to Nirvana. It's what makes this whole things so much dang FUN!

flahute
JPS21........yeah, I know........in my defense, I bought this when I was young and new to the hobby and equated age and price to greatness. Now I know better, but despite the bias shift, I'm finding this especially enjoyable tonight. Not enough to buy another bottle at it's price though.
