A healthy pour of EWSB 04. A little thin, but taste wise, I really enjoy this one. It isnt a special one, but just tasty. HH profile is right up my ally.

Side note/ question. Im traveling a bit this summer. Is there a way to contact, or a place to post, those in the forum to see if there is anyone in the area?

Looooooong Monday. Let's get right to it then, with a Jackie's OBSK selection.

You gonna do a SBS when our barrel comes in?

Had the best intentions of a bike ride but then the skies opened, so sitting on the porch with a pour monitoring the deluge seemed like the best plan. WFE 10/119.5 in the glass.

Edit: my palate says this is barrel proof Larceny. If so, wish HH offered that option!

Three fingers of SB Blend to take the edge off what was a typical Monday at the salt mine.

Stopped by fishnbowljoe's after work and had some of his BIB blend. Ya think I can remember what he put in there? Of course not, but it was darn tasty. Had to have a second pour before going home :)

Ok some nice bottles there! Even a Michter's 20 yr to share. What were the standouts?

Thanks

In a positive way, the ORVW10 and Michters 20, easily. In a negative way, Jeffersons ocean.

I think if you mixed Henry McKenna 10 and either Elijah Craig 12 or Evan Williams Single Barrel in the proper proportions, you could obtain a reasonable facsimile.

Well heck.....I found my sweet spot with the OWA/12 blend so I may as well take on this one.

Hey Flahute,

I've got a glass of Old Pogue and a glass of POH in front of me. I retract my statement. Unless I had a different batch of OP at my friend's house, they aren't the same animal. Although OP is very, very good, and especially so at $45. Although the starts of both are very similar, the OP has more of a black licorice finish to it. If you like black licorice, you're likely to be just fine with this.

POH stays caramel all the way through, fading into pleasant heat. I'm afraid we haven't found the equal just yet, although I am eager to see the reports on the suggested blending.

I also had some Old Charter 8 and 12, followed by OGD BIB with my better half earlier.

Another great night.

Booker's.....Ive been on a tear with it lately. a pinch of sweetness wound be a nice addition, but its my #2 favorite as is....and that flavor just laaaaaasts.

every time i open it, I think the cork is gonna fail......then i noticed that the cap and cork combo on the WT101 is damn near an identical cap, and can use that if need be. that, or just go ahead and finish off the bookers when it happens....the latter sounds more fun

Thanks for the heads up on the OP tbt.

As for the proposed blend, I have the McKenna and EWSB, but I need to pick up some EC12 before I start experimenting.

On topic, I've had some James Pepper 1776 and ER10 this evening. My taster isn't working right tonight so neither one of these is working at all, but they've worked before so I blame it all on me. The evening's not a total loss however because I still have that warm fuzzy feeling my belly. So there's that.

There is that, indeed.

How did you like that EC store select? Thinking about picking up a bottle myself.

Barrel #111 has been sold out for a couple of months now but I really enjoyed it and have one stashed away. It's the usual EC12 profile but the flavors are definitely a bit stronger with a more spice and wood on the finish. It's not for everyone but I wish I had 3-4 more of these. Just checked K&L's site, the only barrel pick left is #2387.

I'm probably not looking for more wood out of EC12, so that doesn't make me sad.… guess I'll decide when I get there (if there's even any more of the other barrel left by then, that is).

In addition to some single malt I was working through the last little bit of a WT Diamond last night. Seems like this has really improved with a bit of air time and being the last little bit in the bottle. Will be a pleasure to finish!

Woohoo, an afternoon of 4RSmb. We are just so lucky that there are so many fine bourbons to choose from at prices most if not all can afford.

When something is temporarily missing from the shelves there are always other great pours to take home.

It just doesn't get any better than this.
