flahute
Started off with Parker's PoH and am ending the evening with SAOS 7yr. This is a fine night of bourbon enjoyment.

sutton
Opened a L&K HMcKenna BiB UCF (are HH's bourbon's normally chill filtered?) and a EWSB 2003. The interesting thing here is that the McKenna was barreled 2-28-03, the EWSB a few months later on 5-15-03 and bottled just seven days short of 10 years.First pours from both bottles - the EWSB has the characteristic balance, but next to this McKenna it gets blown away. I added water to the McKenna to bring it to 86.8 proof, and it still had more of everything, especially mouthfeel at the lower proof.I also have the L&K Selection EWSB 2003 that was barreled 12-10-03 and bottled at 9 yrs 10 months, but is also UCF. I'm going to hunt up a standard HMcKenna BiB and try to compare the UCF/chill-filtered as well as how they each take water and compare to the EWSB's.Would love to see some of these EWSB's at 100 proof - and although one pour does not a trend make, UCF seems the way to go as well! All of the store selects were priced as the standard bottling - I wish I had opened this HMcK sooner since I'd love to have a couple more. GaryT
Did a small blind sbs with Old Ezra 101 7yr and WT101. Enjoyed both about the same; not too dissimilar. If pushed, I leaned toward the Old Ezra - which I was happy about since it is a few bucks less (although not nearly as widely available). Looking forward to trying a mingle of the Old Ezra with some dusty OF86, as that mingle with WT101 is one of my favs :yum:
TunnelTiger
Started off with some OGBIB in me coffee, followed by some OGD114 in me coffee. Having them back to back that way points out how much sweeter the 114 is.Now having my first pour of EWSB04. Right now I don't think I like it as much as the 03 and I thought the 02 was even better yet.

Tucker
Opened my first bottle of McKenna. Says it's the only BIB that is aged? Never thought about it....It's the oldest BIB that I'm aware of, but there are others age-stated beyond the minimum 4 years. I think HH uses the term "extra-aged" for McKenna, or used to. The last McKenna I had was a Liquor Barn selection, excellent. The Very Rare Old Heaven Hill 10 year BIB from a few years ago was a good one, too. flahute
I raced my bike today in a neighborhood near downtown. It's the biggest race of the year and a lot of spectators come out to watch as we are on city streets surrounded by restaurants and bars. I was going good and feeling really good and then......pshhhhhh!, rear tire goes flat. Race over. To stifle my disappointment, my wife and I went to a BBQ place right on the course for food and whiskey and I perked myself up with a healthy pour of WFE 8 yr while watching the next race. This one hits the spot for me. A little later at the place next door, I tried an Old Bardstown Estate - one of Willett's regular labels. Though I found things to like about it, there are others at this price point ($30-$35 a bottle) that deliver more flavor so I don't feel the need to purchase a bottle of this. Richnimrod
Had a very generous pour of a barrel proof offering of OESK yesterday. Enjoyed it immensely for about an hour and a half!
clingman71
Watched the Belmont with a generous pour of ETL 93. I tried it at TPS a few weeks ago. It was 1/2oz pour from their spirits library, tough to really judge it then. Opened my bottle yesterday, fantastic. Pretty thick on the palate compared to my most recent standard bottling. Rich, sweet to begin, the spice sorts of "builds", but it never dominates, so much brown sugar. This is right in my wheelhouse. Just the slightest bit of burn to let you know it's there, incredibly, scarily drinkable. I wish these had barrel # and/or locations on them.Next up was '13 Old Rip, my first from the new bottle. Best Old Rip I've had in a few years. I definitely need more of this. I'll let everyone fight over Pappy, I'll "settle" for more ORVW.Late in the evening I had a pour of a 4R OESF that a friend brought over. I am very hit or miss with 4R, and never would have guessed that I would like the "F" based on 4R's descriptions, but this was enjoyable.

Red One
Having another pour of EC12 Store Selection tonight. Although it's good, I'm gonna have to head out and grab another bottle of something to finish out the vacation week. This stuff is so good, it's not going to last.
