I thought the younger 7 or 8yo Bowman port was pretty good as well. A younger whiskey but more time in the port barrels (8 months versus 4 months) which had previously been Bowman barrels. The port had spent more time in the former Bowman bourbon barrels in the younger one as well. 2 years versus about 15 months.

Interesting...I've never tried the younger version. How was the get together Sat?

Picked up a store selection of 1792 RR. Fair price ($24), and they had the barrel there so my guestimate is it was 8 yrs and 9-10 mos (assuming the store is right about it being bottled "last month", which I'm taking as March). I don't frequent the shop, so no telling how long it was there. About to do a blind sbs with my lone open 1792 RR which is still age stated at 8. Fingers crossed it is a cut above!

After searching for weeks and nearly giving up, I found out that the ETL Commemorative hit my area last week. My usual store sold out immediately, but I called another and found one, then called a third store and the guy said "yeah, we got 'em in today. I got five left. How many do you want?" After restraining myself from blurting out FIVE!, I kindly asked him to hold two for me. I figured I could drink one now, hold the second for a while (at least a month), and save the third for who knows when. I nearly called him back to hold an extra 1 or 2 for me, but I figured I should share.

Curiosity got the best of me today. I caved and picked up an Old Blowhard. The 10% customer discount made it a slight bit easier on the wallet.

I finally saw some OWA for the first time this year, so I went ahead and grabbed one even though it's 20% more expensive than it was the last time I saw it. :coffeedrinker:

Is this bottle actually age stated at 15 years? If so you found a dusty one.

Yes that's what intrigued me, bottle says 15 year on it, but

If I remember correctly this now is made with 3 different mash

Bills aging from 6 years to 18 years..If anyone is interested

I found it at the liquor barn In Buffalo Grove il, on dundee Rd

They have about 4 or 5 more bottles at $44.99 each

Noah's Mill has always been a blend of different things, but the youngest was 15 years before they reformulated it a few years ago.

With that and the fact that they've got Van Winkles on the shelf (and at non-obscene prices) it sounds like you found yourself a good spot!

Of course now that you've posted this on the Internet, don't be surprised if they've been cleaned out by the next time you stop in. ;)

That's a very commendable attitude but the flippers who glean through our posts are not our brothers. No kin at all, actually.

Finally found some ETL, even if not the 93 was glad to make the purchase, about 31 and change each. Maybe I'll be able to compare the two if there is any left in August. Knob Creek Single Barrel, Booker's and Booker's 25th, which I purchased for another forum member who is willing to trade something I have been looking for for a very long time.

Current plan is to take the Knob Creek and Booker's to India, where I am allowed to bring two bottles. Othern than Jim and Jack, they don't do Bourbon there. Concerned about them disappearing in transit so may substitute with something less expensive.

Very glad to hear that this brand is back on the private selection menu. And, it sounds like this is another 7 yr choice, which is notable as well. I have heard that other private selections of this done at Sampler time were very good, so I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this 7 yr OWA selection. What do you think of it?

It's pretty damn good, and for the price, it's spectacular.
