I stopped in a random store I passed, and picked up some Stagg Jr. First time I have seen it on the shelves around me, so I thought what the heck.

I grabbed a bottle of Eagle Rare with 10 year old and single barrel still on the packaging for $34. Figured it's worth it before every bottle becomes just 10 year.

Guy I have a couple of these also but I am yet to see the significance if I don't know the barrel number and I don't have the ability to buy another bottle from the same barrel if it turns out good.

Agreed, with your general sentiment, but I would have done the same thing as Guy. Scarcity in the bourbon world is a strange thing. I find myself stocking up on relatively standard bottlings now because "what if there is a shortage" or "I might not be able to get it again" or the price is only going up."

and since most of us seem to be doing that, we are artificially making the 'shortages' seem worse. Of course, I think, this may also contribute to a future glut.... if distillers are seeing todays 'shortages' and ramping up big-time, only to have a chunk of the bourbon buyers slow their buying down suddenly once they realize they have more at home than they could drink in a decade. we'll see...

Just bought a Barterhouse. Can't wait to see what 20 year old Bernheim taste like.

I'm pretty sure if I stopped buying today I wouldn't drink my current stash in a decade, at least.

This statement got me figuring. If I consume one bottle a month, I'm good until I'm 80. I'm 54 now...

Came across a couple of bottles of Medley Bros. for $20 apiece, and based upon the positive comments on SB about this bourbon, they came home with me.

Or we could hold a lottery.

Picked up an OGD 114 @ $19.99 and an EWSB03 @ $22.99.

Wow, at those prices I would have walked with three each, minimum.

Picked up 4R LB selections OESK and OBSV. Gotta keep my cult membership in good standing!

It's a cash-only store, which keeps my consumption in check. I'm always tempted to clear the shelves.

After an admittedly brief debate with myself about the fairly significant bump up on the MSRP I went ahead and picked up a FR SBLE that was offered to me. $99.99 plus tax as had been noted previously.

123.2 pf from warehouse HW, barrel 47-4R

For the beer drinkers I did manage to pick up the last 2014 Westbrook Mexican Cake in the store as well so that helped a bit!

Based on my unwavering faith in Restaurant Man's palate, picked up a FRSB store pick of OBSV. Waiting until tomorrow night to crack it, and expect powdered cocoa to pour out of the bottle :)

I would still like to know what the MSRP is on those. It's typically $70. I guess I can call and find out.

The lower proof 4RSBs I've had tend to be better than the higher proofed bottles. The higher proofed bottles are still good but are really hot and need a little water.

...but that's just me...

I can tell you they were $100 at Liquor Barns in Kentucky, so I'm pretty much thinking that's the MSRP. Sad.

Picked up a handle of OGD BIB, a 2004 EWSB, a 4RSB OESK 9y8m at 55.9, and a 7yr OldScout at 56.5.

Interesting concept. Save your customers money and make lying to the IRS easier but lose potential big spending CC only customers.

A notable beer bar in Louisville does the same thing expect he keeps an ATM in the front. He has no POS system, cash only and customers pay on the honor system.
