I saw that you found this from your tweet.

I trust we'll be seeing a review soon?

Welcome to the board.

My roommate and I picked up all 10 recipes of four roses with some extras of several that were all picked this year. Also got a couple 9 year old Willett private selections. It was nice to try those 2 first before buying them. They were great!

I'll wager that of any Internet forum, SB.com has the awesomest two guys named Joe who smoke... I don't know what they smoke. Probably something.

Anyways thanks to the Houston variety this time around.

You know...

This is a 20 year old, 90.2 proof whiskey, whose provenance has been disclosed.

Presumably, it was distilled by Ed Foote, who also distilled some, um, let's say, um, very desirable cigar smoking man whiskey.

And it tastes pretty damn good.

I don't care what Diageo's reputation in the Scotch world is. Big liquor companies are all in it for the money just as much as Diageo is. Barterhouse is the most compelling new release since ECBP, as far as I'm concerned.

Now... How about a private barrel program?

So you're saying it's better than Turkey?

/not sure if serious

I have bought a bottle of Turkey that is a new release since ECBP. Barterhouse is better than that, yeah.

Barterhouse was distilled at the new bernheim distillery by Evan Williams/heaven hill. It was warehoused at stitzel-weller, but none of the orphan barrel product was made there.

I've samples barterhouse before and never intended to buy it...it was okay, but not great, and I didn't think it justified the price. I just couldn't help myself the other day when I saw it.

EDIT: Your'e right....It is Ed Foote juice. For some reason, I had thought he wasn't at new bernheim at the time.

Yeah, I know I'm right.

With the blog and the links and all, you're presenting yourself as an expert. I recommend doing your research up front next time.

Why so touchy? I didn't realize the guy worked at Bernheim in 93/94. I never presented myself as anything except a guy who likes to taste bourbon. Sorry if it came off as something I wasn't intending.

Because it bugs when someone shows up and immediately starts trying to direct traffic to his blog.

Last guy to do this was the bourbon.cc guy

His blog is about sports collectables now

I started trying to direct traffic? by posting a link to it in the thread introducing myself?

I'm just wanting to discuss bourbon. Again, sorry if I came across someway that is unintended.

Not gonna get into it further, but that was not the only time you linked to your blog.

I don't like taking the time to make a post only to have to come back and defend the facts in it because some ill-informed blogger posts a bunch of nonsense.

Respectfully, yes. Including a blog link in your signature line is directing traffic.

And that's why squire doesn't have a link to acaseofbarton.com in his sig.

Well, that and the age statement deception thing.

I'll take the link out of my signature- I had no idea that would be frowned upon or I wouldn't have done it. I am proud of our website, but I didn't mean to seem like I'm pimping it. Again, I am sincerely apologizing if I came off wrongly. It was not my intention.

There's no rule that says you can't have that link there. It's just the sum of several things that got under my skin: new user + bad info + blog link (+ I'm just kind of a jerk.)

Anyways, there's lots of good info here, spend some time reading and you'll find yourself constantly learning more.

That's why I'm here. You seem to have a great forum here and I just want to be a part of it, not disrupt it. Cheers!

Well said, Jim. There seems to be a new blog about whiskey every 5 minutes these days.
