Schneiders of Capital Hill (DC) private barrel selection 4RSB. The private label says "35% rye mash bill / delicate fruity yeast." 9 year, 2 month age statement. With no other designation, I assume its OBSV? It is absolutely superb. They made a great pick.

Also grabbed a bottle of Schneider's Buffalo Trace Single Barrel. I had no BT was available as single barrel. I'll be interested to try this side by side with my regular BT, already opened.

I've been on the fence to buy this bottle for quite some time, knowing it would probably not be worth the $125 price tag. However after hearing why the owner decided to stock these, I went for it. Cheers to an overpriced maybe good bourbon!

Awesome, both sound great! If the FR is 100 proof, then it is safe to assume it is OBSV. I have found a slight difference with BT single barrels, a little less harsh, but still within the same profile as standard BT. Enjoy!

You are the only person who can determine whether you paid too much. If you enjoy it, then it will be a bottle along the path of your bourbon experience that you will be glad you tried. I hope you enjoy many great pours from it! Just curious, what was the reason the owner decided to stock it?

Yep its 100 proof, and thanks, will definitely enjoy. The 4RSB was $40 and the BT was $27. Its tough to find all the limited edition stuff, so its fun to try unique expressions of two bourbons that I love.

Vacation time, and I'm on the road. Bought bottles of Jeffers Creek and BT at Premier Liquors in Buffalo NY last weekend. In Massachusetts now. Stopped at a very nice store yesterday that had a shelf full of ETL. I bough two bottles. One for me, and one for my brother. My birthday was last Sunday, and my brothers birthday was Wednesday. Happy Birthday to us! Cheers!

Next time you swing through Buffalo I recommend Colonial Wines and Spirits. Great selection (slightly smaller than Premier), way better prices, and excellent customer service and not too far off I-90.

This guy showed up today. I think 1994 makes it a first release maybe?

That right there is a thing of beauty....

I agree, it might just hit me in all the right spots but I've had various batches of the 18 year and not been super impressed. For that kind of money, I know I would enjoy another bottle I've been eyeing, a Bunnahabhain 23 Year Old A.D. Rattray Single Barrel Cask Strength that is about the same price. However, the Curious George in me and having a soft spot for the store made me go for the JPS21. As for the reason they stock it... I give this store 80-90% of my business now, and other business goes elsewhere due to store selections or other specialty and independent bottlers that I can't get there. I'm loyal to them for all other "general" releases and the owner mentioned she special ordered these because another customer asked for them. What sucks is they had to order three of them! Then the person who placed the order ended up backing out and that's a peeve of mine, folks who back out on their end of a deal. The store has treated me so good, holding special releases and introducing me to new whiskeys so I figured it was something that I was mildly interested plus it would satisfying a curiosity.

ECBP... I was a little disappointed that it was $59 when I got to the register. I just assumed it would have been $49 like the last one I bought from the same store.

Hunting for some Four Roses LE, which is not looking good in Michigan. Found some ECBP 5th release grabbed two of the three bottles on the shelf. Also found a stash of Parker's POH and grab one of those.

I can understand your willingness to support your local store. While it may have been a little more than you wanted to spend, you ended up getting something different and helped her out. Not enough can be said about good relationships with whatever business you support, even it is the local butcher, plumber, etc. This is a reason that I rarely purchase alcohol from grocery or drug stores. My local store is part of a larger chain but they provide me with variety at reasonable prices, and provide special selections that are excellent. I prefer to support them.

Today for some reason I was drawn to a bottle of Pritchard double barrel in the closeout section for $45 (usually $65). Anyone ever try this? There are 3 more left if it's worth it.

I'll probably crack it open tomorrow as one of the Fathers Day selections

ETL Commemorative and OWA 107. I've never had either so I'm excited to at least see what all the hype is about. There were only two of each. As soon as I left the store, I thought "did I make a mistake not buying all four?" That sort of stuff is always sold out everywhere around me. Still though, the ETL Comm. was $65 and the OWA was $30. I don't mind splurging on the ETL since its hard to find, but not sure its worth the $65.

Ventured north today, way north by my normal standards.

passed up a lot of store using a lot of will power, and then finally stopped at one close to the hotel.

Almost missed it, the glass case on the side of the store. Bunch of BTEC. Asked the door to be opened. Oat, rice, passed it.

Then, there it was, 1991. One of my favs. There was a box in he bottom of the case. More. Another 1991.

it was a very good day indeed.

wanted to by more, but needed to restrain. Left many others for another time.

1792 Ridgemont Reserve. Liked it during the Barton tour last winter and as it was National Bourbon day, it seemed an appropriate choice. Didn't hurt that it was on sale.

Yesterday, I found:

1 Wild Turkey 15yr American Spirit

2x Michter's 10

1x Weller Special Reserve 7yr

and a handle of Old Charter 8yr from '04. If it tastes like the other OC8 I've got, then I'll like it - but I've been warned that OC is highly variable. There was only one so no need to try in the parking lot.

Passed on a Promise Of Hope for $99 - but was impressed to see it on a Texas shelf.

Wonderful Father's Day haul today....GTS '13 and ETLC as mentioned above, as well as a store select FRPS OESF 11yrs 1 month, ORVW 10yr, and 2x EC12 Store Select Single Barrel. I either need to start consuming more or find additional storage space as we have reached max capacity. I should mention, most of this was done in large part with the help of Colonel Duke!! Part of the reason why I love this place. SBers helping SBers!! Cheers.

I accidentally walked into the feeding frenzy that I believe the former two posters are speaking of. I was unaware this business was going on, and just happened to wander into the store after having brunch with some friends as I was passing through Louisville. I did what I almost always do in Kentucky: looked for unloved scotch in need of a good home. Snagged a Springbank 12 CS, which isn't available in Maryland.

But it looks like y'all were having quite the party in the back room.
