That took some restraint...or maybe it didn't. :cool: I am waiting to pick up a couple of store selects. Now, FRSmBLE is a different story. Though I sure wish I would have picked up a FRSBLE '13. Maybe it was you but I remember someone posting about how great it was.

Found a Parker's Heritage Blend Of Mashbills today for $130. I passed.

What do you guys think? I'd never seen one before (only started hunting this year). Is $130 a fair price these days for this one?

I bought a bottle a few months ago for around $99. I haven't opened it yet, but it appears to be well regarded. $130 seems high. If you can try it at a bar first, I'd do that instead.

Blowhard today ... I think I'm regretting it. Anyone here tried this? And or can talk me into going back tomorrow to get it?

My take on Old Blowhard is that it's really tasty "Johnnie Walker Blue" type bourbon. As in, it's a good whiskey that bourbon fans and non-bourbon fans alike stand a good chance of enjoying. I would be far more likely to buy this as a gift for someone else than to buy it for myself. I highly doubt you would hate it if you bought it, but I doubt you're going to think it compares favorably to truly great bourbons that were released with bourbon fans in mind.

went to a Local Sams today and they had a decent selection of bourbons at some great prices, and a few at prices higher than normal places. KC for $25, 4RSiB was like $28 and the SmB was about $25, Bulleit for $21, HH green 1.75 6 years for $17 (surprised me to see that one there, as well as VOB 1.75's, but dont recall the price). Bookers was $50, a bit higher than most regular places. Several others but dont recall them all.

Indeed I did! There were plenty of other offerings that caught my eye so I did not come away empty handed.

We we only had time for Willett and BT on this trip. It was hard to see the signs for the others and drive by. I have family in Cincinnati so I will always be coming back to this part of the country. Many future visits are in discussion.

We we only had time for Willett and BT on this trip. It was hard to see the signs for the others and drive by. I have family in Cincinnati so I will always be coming back to this part of the country. Many future visits are in discussion.

I really enjoy going to Willett. The entire operation is so different compared to the "big boys." So serene and peaceful there. My wife loves the place as well. She bought my father's day present at the Willett GS. As we went in, she told me to just pick out "whatever I wanted." I warned her not to make that statement again, as she was unaware of those $350-375 bottles. One of these days I'm going to buy one of each anyway just for the h**l of it.

Totally agree on how serene Willett is. I really loved that about the place. I will return here on every Cincinnati trip just to visit the gift shop and walk the grounds.

My brother in law bought the 25yr rye. It is an oak bomb and not really my thing. If you really like woody whiskey than this one is for you.

It's pretty good. My father-in-law had a bottle and we put a big dent in it this past weekend. Nothing too noteworthy to make me want to spend $60+ for it again, though, as that's premium-level pricing. If you can find one of the 375s for around $30, it might be worth a purchase just to be able to try it.

I believe $30 would be high for 750 of this one. The Widow Jane brand is a marketing concept using ordinary sourced whisky that is by no means bad but it doesn't rate a premium price.

I would buy it again at $30 for a 750 for sure, but it's definitely not worth premium prices.
