Its hard not to hate you

Tomorrow 8/18/14 I am adding a bottle of Elijah Craig 21 year old.. Along with that I am picking up the 4 bottles of Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary and 6 bottles of Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel.. Running up the miles trying to build my bourbon bunker back to what it was many years ago.. Fun being retired.. Creggor

Earlier this year I broke open a John J Bowman Single Barrel I liked it. Can not speak for others.. Cheers.. Creggor

Believe it or not, it was only 75 bucks. In addition, they had a bottle of four roses marriage 2009 that I just missed out on. Same store that can usually gets me every btac and most pappy release except for stuff like 23 which the owner keeps. I scored 3 cases of 12 year lot b from him last year.

W L Weller 12, grabbed three as it is a rare find in Ontario...@C$45 it is expensive, but we don't get Lot B here and this will be the top wheater on the shelf.

I'm actually very impressed that Ontario got this at all, and $45 CDN is not bad at all... what other wheaters make it North of the border for less money? Good score.

Well I finally convinced my brother to give up the GTS that was supposed to be for me anyway, traded him for a 1.75 of ER10 plus I wanted to give him some cash, but he was fine with it (guilt). Also got me 04 EWsb,RHF,and a SB of Bernheim (store select). Never tried the regualr version, but this stuff is very smooth.

Just scored this guy for $45.99 while bourbon hunting in "an urban" area. Could not pass it up.

Makers 46. My first experience with Makers in over 20 years and my first experience with this expression.

I picked up a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel at Tippins, it was their selection.

Barreled on 6-7-04, bottled on 6-6-14.

On the sticker it says it was "hand selected".

I have seen this on other private selections and I don't understand what they are trying to say.

Did they stick their hands in the whiskey to determine if it was worthy?

I would prefer it being palate selected.

But anyway I really like this bottle and I think I'll go back for a couple of more.

Oscar, I prefer my bourbon to be tasted by the tongue rather than the roof of the mouth, but to each his own...

All btac, 3 cases of lot b and they just sold a 2009 mariage? Which wing of heaven was this store in?

Without giving away too much detail, it is a small store in a small town that has carried premium bourbons such as pappy since way before they were popular and still have allocation. BT doesn't pull allocations from stores that treated them right when all their bourbons sat on shelves. Anyways, the locals are more interested in buying cheap flavored vodkas and 40's then 100 dollar bourbons. I understand that nowadays people trip over themselves to buy bourbons costing 100+ dollars but in most parts of the United States, people don't have 100 bucks to drop on a bottle of booze. I discovered them in December of last year on a business trip and that's when they had the 3 cases of lot b. sitting in a back room, talked to store manager and hopefully I'll get the call to get my btac and pappy this year. Checked in on him this week and all I got was a thh.

Yesterday I ran some "errands" (code for whiskey shopping) after work and picked up:

2x SAOS 7 yr (batches 31 and 35) for the bunker

Stagg Jr. (newest batch at 128.X proof to compare to the 134.4)

I also found a "dusty" 1.75 L of WT101 at another local place. It has the old "Austin Nichols" label and according to the bottom, the bottle was manufactured in 2006. When I brought it to the counter, the lady wiped off the top saying, "Wow, that's dusty." They had 2 more on the shelf, so that area must not care for WT. I am not sure if it will taste any better than current WT101 but I figured it couldn't hurt to have more waiting in the bunker. Any input?

Had a few allocated beers to pick up so grabbed an ER10 (new label). Nice mid-range bourbon to have around.

Picked up a lonely Pure Kentucky XO batch 10-49. I know it's mystery juice, but I've enjoyed it in the past.

i picked up one in MI last month. Then I understood why guys on here slammed WT products from a decade ago. The current WT101 is far better. But, why not buy and try it?!

This is one example of a bourbon getting better, rather than going the other way.
