TunnelTiger
Passed on Stagg Jr @ $79 and Blanton's @ $69.
suntour
Passed reluctantly on larceny, I have never seen it before but just not enough room to bring it back and plenty of sample bottles rationed for the journey. Also a couple of enticing SAOS 10 years priced a little higher than I was willing to go.
dcbt
Passed on baby Saz at 59.99 (though I would pass on this at any price as I'm not a fan of rye whiskey in general but that price point left me wide-eyed) and also passed on Stagg Jr at 79.99. JGriff
Passed on a Weller 12 @ 89.99, Baby Saz @ 49.99 and Willett XCF@ 249.99. I asked to verify the W12 price just to confirm I wasn't seeing things.

flahute
Passed on Chesnut Farms for $52. They were giving out sample tastes at the tasting bar and trying to push sales. I did taste it and thought it decent but young and definitely not worth the asking price.

Hop
Passed on several bottles of CEHT SB and SB while in KY for Christmas. Prices were good and it seemed plentiful I was just on the hunt for other bourbon and limited on space. Got back to NC at 2AM this morning. flahute
I wonder if they tasted it themselves first. If they did, they would be marking it down to try to get it out the door. Of course it didn't help that the lady next to me remarked how beautiful the bottle was and that she'd buy it just for that. I now expect the store will put it on an end cap and play up the romanticism of the Kentucky race horse on the bottle. Perhaps the display will be replete with a classic horse farm white fence. In all seriousness, it appears that the label is owned by Sazerac and that the product is some mashup of BT and Barton, put in a nice package (though it doesn't really work for me), and sold at a premium. No thanks.

PaulO
I saw Chestnut Farms last time I was in Louisville. It's a fancy package. After reading the label, I still had no clue why the contents merited premium price.

Phil T
I would like to try the Beam Red Wheat, but $49.85 for a 375ml made it a pass. I am however, glad they are bringing different things to the marketplace

Creggor
This past week 12/20/14 I passed on the Jim Beam Distillers Masterpiece for $199.99.. I was under the impression this was to be a Distillery Gift Shop only product.. Ok Seems they could not sell out at the gift shop. So they then release this to the open market through their retail distributors.. No Age statement.. Not dated.. No numbered bottles.. And they could not follow thru with gift shop only.. Sorry not for me at this time at least not at suggested retail.. I might consider buying a bottle or two at a discount.. $150 or less.. Not at full retail when they could not see out at their own store.. I also pass on the new Williet FCX bottling and the 2014 Cask Strength version, My go to store wanted $199.99 I told him I would pay retail but not a premium because he was only offred two bottles.. It's getting to the point that I have to start drawing a line.. Trust me I am willing to pay extra for the right bottling.. But bottlings that have no age statement or bottlings that are not numbered so we know how much is out there.. I am going to pass..Enjoy. Creggor.. I did buy a ABC wine & Liquor Barrel Strength OBSQ and a OESF for $49.99 each.. The OBSQ was A wonderful Bourbon.. I have yet to try the OESF.. Cheers Creggor

I nearly grabbed an OC101 today, but then thought this and left it there. there is nothing about CEHT SmB that warrants $40, let alone $52. Better to boycott the stores IMHO. There are a few stores around here that I will never buy anything from again because they do just that. Gouge.FWIW, I stopped at a store this evening to grab an ETL. It just so happened that a couple of distributors/sales reps were there. I brought this topic up during the course of our conversation. I mentioned a couple of stores that seemed to be 'just a bit high' on their prices. The look they gave me when I mentioned the two stores said it all. compliance
If I boycotted the stores that offended me with some of their pricing I wouldn't have anywhere left to shop for bourbon. Better to pass on the grenades and grab the good stuff when I see it for a good price.
