Harry in WashDC
Very nice! I like OGD and WT, but I like the JBBIB better becasue of the great mouthfeel. The OGD is a bit thin, and WT isn't as thin but not as nice as the JBBIB. It's hard to believe that JBBIB is just JBW bottled at 100 proof. It just seems to be of a higher quality (I do like JBW on the rocks). JBB I like OK but it has this apple juice taste that I don't care for that I don't get in JBBIB. Standard KC is too woody for me, where as KCSB alternates between good and meh for me. I would have to rank Beam's current line as Baker's, Booker's, then JBBIB, followed by OGD114/BIB.Nice comment which provoked some more pondering. The JBBIB mouthfeel really is a pleasant surprise and is one reason I'll continue to buy it; I, too, found the mouthfeel more robust than OGD BIB and WT101 (but not, of course, OGD114). That apple juice taste in JBB, now that I think about it, is reminiscent of, but just a hint of, the candy apple burst I get from and love in good old BT and may be why I liked JBB in the first place. I, too, find KC rougher than things I like of comparable age and proof. What a problem - three Beam products that overlap, each of which has things I like but each of which is less than completely satisfying. Guess I'll just have to keep buying all three. Starting to run out of time, let alone space, to manage all these mainline bourbons I like, and I haven't been paying enough attention to the crafts I like. As I said, what a problem.
