Went down to Julio's last night ahead of "GO! Whiskey Weekend" in hopes of scoring some 10% off bottles before the shelves are picked clean. The place was mobbed. Seems I wasn't the only one with that idea.

I was planning on picking up a case of OWA and some other odds and ends, but they were down to their last bottle on the shelves. I'm hoping they're just holding back stock for the big event - they were also "missing" other advertised bottles. Grabbed that last bottle of OWA along with some Dickel Rye (for my Manhattans), WTR101 (first time I've seen it up here since its return), and my yearly Nikka Coffey Grain. I'll go back next week to see if they've restocked the OWA.

Had a tasting at our new house and was gifted a bottle of Savannah 88 as a housewarming present. Looking forward to trying something I haven't seen on the shelf.

I didn't buy diddly squat today. Not even a mercy buy. But I finally got on the list at one of my stops. Clerk asked for my name, number, and a list of wants. We'll see what comes of it.

Well that's a start. Stay positive.

Part of vacation for me and my wife last summer, was a family get together at my brothers home in Taunton. Pretty much my only disappointment of the trip was not being able to make it over to Julio's. I've had a few really good private selection bottles from them over the years. I hope they have some OWA for you next week Stomp. Let us know how it goes.

New to the site & bourbon...I've had MM46 mixed with coke. My class bought me MM, which I started to drink neat. Not sure if i like MM I get a funky taste when it initially hits my mouth. Today I was gonna either buy Elijah Craig 12 or Old Weller Antique. .went with the Antique. We will see how it goes.

Welcome to the forum, trufunk. MM is a very common entry way into bourbon. While I like EC12, I think OWA is a more versatile bourbon because of its higher proof and it is less woody. It hits the spot or can be blended to hit the spot for just about any type of mood. I really enjoy the more recent OWA, after a few years of just being hot and thin.

Enjoy the bourbon journey. If you have time, post a little about yourself in the new member area.

Grabbed a bottle of Dickle 9-year at $44.99. I have the Dickle 14-year and like it a lot, and I've heard good things about the 9-year.

OE7

Charter8

Dant BiB (2)

David Nichols BiB

OGD114

Internet shopping for bourbon while drinking bourbon leads to purchasing some bargains. Even with shipping these are bargains and most of them I don't have readily at hand on the shelf of anywhere nearby. Dant BiB in particular is a gem for its price point in my opinion and all the OGD hype sparked by the new label made me get one more OGD114.

Henry McKenna 10yr Single Barrel BiB. I was pleasantly surprised. Read a lot of older reviews all talking about the heat and spice but I thought it was pretty toned down and balanced. It kind of reminded me of a very toned down FR OBSK with less complexity. Great everyday supper IMO. Paid $28

The problem I've had with the HMcK is that it is so inconsistent from bottle to bottle. Some were fantastic and others just meh. Combine that with the price which is now $39.99 to $49.99 in my area makes it a simple pass.

Four liters of OGD 86 -- yes, 86 -- for $13.99 each.
