Paul W
I already have a bottle of Dant, which is why I wanted to order more. I think it is a gem at its price point. At $13 plus shipping it is a steal when compared to what I can get in So Cal that is bonded and delicious (nothing). I think but am not sure this is a Heaven Hill offering. The Nicholson 1843 is a contemporary bottom shelf offering, but it is only offered regionally. I think it is a wheater bottled by Luxco, who also bottles the Old Ezra. The Charter would indeed be better if it was higher proof, but I have one open bottle that I think is pretty drinkable and wanted another so I can stop fretting about only having one. Same issue with the Dant, although I like the Dant much more so I got two backups there.I ordered all this stuff from a place in St Louis. Shipping was less than $5 per bottle and I escaped the 10% CA sales tax that makes our already high prices even higher (although Flaute has opened my eyes to the fact that WA state is even more expensive, which I previously thought was impossible.) Dant is one of my favorites, a classic HH bourbon with full flavor at a reasonable price. I picked up some David Nicholson 1843 about a month ago when I was in St. Louis. I thought it was okay, sorta like a mild version of J.W. Dant. I haven't seen Old Ezra 101 around for a good while. I think it's the best of the Luxco offerings. whiskeyscope
Been out of the country for a while in Europe. It's a bit of a Bourbon wasteland, but did pick up a WT 8yr 101 for €30,95.
kjbeggs
Stopped off at Goody Goody to grab a bottle of Powers John's Lane for tonight. Of course I browsed the Bourbon aisle. Found the 2015-01 Booker's, and a lone store select ER10.

zeeck
Not a purchase but a gift, a friend of mine came back from Kentucky with a Gallenstein select Knob Creek Single Barrel. According to the store owner, it was a barrel from the 7th floor of a 9 story rickhouse and was aged 12 years. I have no clue as to the veracity of all that, but the bourbon is phenominal. I didn't realize Knob Creek could taste so good.

jp_stargazer
Central IL is apparently awash with Weller 12. I did my rounds yesterday after work and two stores had 1.75L bottles and the third had 6-8 750's. I bought one of the 1.75L bottles ($50), another Rittenhouse Rye for the bunker, and Forged Oak which appeared here for the first time. Now I will have to do a sbs comparison with Barterhouse and Lost Prophet for Orphan Barrel supremacy. Also last weekend my fiance was visiting family in MI and was kind enough to stop at Cork 'N Ale in Saginaw. After some picture messages of the entire whiskey section, a lot of pinch zooming, and a 10 minute phone conversation she ended up getting me 2 ECBP (Batch 7) for $55 each and a 750 of Weller 12 (this was before I saw it here). She's a keeper. She said that the employee found it entertaining that I was shopping via proxy. Now I need to find more OWA because the balance in my bunker for SB blend has unexpectedly shifted in favor of W12. Not that I can't enjoy W12 by itself...Jason
