I always have a drink from two bottles in the evenings to do a “compare” and enjoy.

Tonight the two bottles finished were:

Breckenridge – Very smooth with flavor, light finish. Surprising for a 2 year old mix.
Looking forward to when they release their own barrels when they come of age.

Bulleit 10 – My new “everyday” bourbon.

Finished a bottle of Booker's C04-A-28 as my opening pour for the day - no worries now I can move on to the batches from this year..

Been a while since I have been around but this occasion required a visit.  Just finished off  a bottle of VB17.  Those that know me will realize this is th best bourbourbon to have ever crossed my lips and is the best bottle in my bar.  Took me three years to empty.  Just glad I have another one on backup.

Yes, Good for blending/vatting things together or perhaps replacing a bottle that has cork issues where you don't have an adequate cork handy to replace it. 375's make good bottles for storing whiskey I expect to keep a while but would rather not have as a half empty 750.

I really like bottles that have good quality screw cap closures which are particularly common with Japanese whisky.

Oh, and the occasional flower vase... :D

I save a four roses bottle for valentine's day. I give my wife four roses, and then I give myself some four roses.

Should give her a dozen! Then you could give yourself Four Roses three times...

I would need three bottles for that. It's hard to fit that many stems in that tiny bottle mouth.

And the problems is? Just have to drink more Four Roses so that you have three bottles available!

Yes!

I will definitely be keeping my Nikka Coffey Grain bottle.

Yes. I save my 375's and 200's, and also empty ETL's. Like Tanstaafl2 said, they're good for vatting, samples, and decanting 1.75's. They also fit much easier on my shelf or in my cabinet. :)

I save several different empties - ETLs (convenient shape), Wellers (screwtops are handy), Blantons (so easy to remove label and so classy for an impromptu decanter), etc.  Great for vatting (cork tops), homemade kahluas (screw tops), or just to bail you out when you have a cork or bottle mishap.  I had a new bottle once completely collapse on me somehow - I picked it up by the top and the plastic seal just gave way; all I was left with in my hand was the top as the bottle bounced down off my bar, bounced again, and luckily settled right-side-up.  But i wasn't about to use that bottle anymore so it was good to have backups around.

The key word is "some".  I do not save them "all".  Cabinet space on upper shelves in the kitchen where my wife can't reach or see without a ladder are perfect.

And, if she says something, I throw a few in the recycle bin and start emptying new ones to save.

Had to lay off the sauce for an entire month on doctor's orders. (Don't think I've done that since I was 15!) Off the wagon last night and hit the Larceny hard until she was empty. Thankfully, there's a full handle waiting in the wings. Commence to drinking!

Thanks, Unclebunk, I did 1792 Sweet Wheat the last night and was wondering what to do tonight.  Larceny with its little bite really sounds good.

Larceny's got bite in more ways than one, or so I found out this morning. Still can't shake that nagging headache but Maker's 46 should make me forget about it for a while!

I will be keeping a bottle of the HHSS2. It's short and easy to store with a screw top. It will be perfect for decanting.

Nice. I like how there is an ec12 on every shelf

They're all different in some way or another...old labels, different size.. I only keep one of each bottle, the others get tossed. Lately I have been adding shelves every week, migrating bottles from the cave up here, so I can make room for my other bottle collection..... old paper label whiskey bottles , and decanters. I'll try to get some pics out here soon.
