Aside from the obvious "my house", fave would be Block 15, the most popular local brewpub. February of every year is "Bourbon Month" and he makes an effort to get in a selection of not-generally-available ones. This year it's:

Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year

Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 15 Year

Elijah Craig Single Barrel 23 Year

Thomas H. Handy Rye

Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary

Michter’s Small Batch

Eagle Rare 17 Year

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2014

E.H. Taylor Single Barrel

Jefferson’s Small Batch

Temperance Trader

William Larue Weller Special Reserve

Elijah Craig Block 15 Barrel Pick

Four Roses Small Batch

I'm wanting to try the WTDA, the OFBB and the WLW, but still haven't gotten in there yet. Wife and I drove by Monday (9th) but there was a line (usually is after 4:30pm) and we just weren't in the mood. Place is too damn popular.

Didn't get by until last Sunday. The OFBB and WLW were long gone (so were the Van Winkle's, but I can drink those at home). Did try the WT Diamond ($18 a shot) and liked it - it adds a hint-o-mint to the usual WT profile - but it's not worth $125 per bottle. Talked myself out of the EC 20 and 23 ($20 and $24 per shot respectively) and instead tried Nick's own barrel pick of EC12 ($8 I think but might have been $6), which was okay but not exceptional.

Next year definitely gonna have to get by earlier during "Bourbon Month".

If that's a non exclusive offer, I'll be there in September...

Fav bar is easily the Twisted Spoke. Great selection, half price Wednesdays, and tempura fried bacon.

BAO, hit me up when you get here and I'll tell you where to go.

One of my favorites is Jocky Silks in the Galt House in Louisville. Another is the Seelbach, also in Louisville.

I agree Joe. The Seelbach is a gorgeous bar with a lot of history.

I loved taking advantage of half off Wednesdays at twisted spoke in Chicago. I've had amazingly reasonable priced pours at Sable in Chicago, I've paid crazy prices for rare dusty bourbon/rye at berkshire room in Chicago. I've had amazing meals with solid pours at Longman and Eagle. But if I had a wallet full of cash and wanted to get down and drink some rare bourbon neat with a soundtrack that appeals to me, it is going to be at my former employer Delilah's.

Way off the beaten track for most on here but, happily, done the street from me in Tallahassee is The Lounge at Market Square. All the Pappys, the BTAC's, LE's, dozens of private selections and all 10 FR recipes. Great deal on 3fer flights and very reasonable prices. That, plus great bourbon buddies and regular gathering nights every week to make this my second home. If you're in the neighborhood, chances are you're lost .. But come by all means.

In my experience, Jack Rose in DC is definitely the hands-down winner. Their prices may be a bit crazy, but I've never seen the selection of bourbon that Jack Rose has anywhere else. Their scotch selection is also very, very impressive. I don't get down south very often, but that's a place I'll stop in every time I go to DC from now on.

I can't say that Brandy Library in NYC has a great bourbon selection, as I don't know for sure. They do have a very extensive cognac/armagnac selection as well as a huge single malt scotch selection. I thought the reservation requirement and general "elite stuffiness" of the place was a bit off-putting.

I like Keen's Steakhouse in NYC- they have a great whisk(e)y selection and the staff is knowledgeable and the service is good. I also like Hudson Bar and Books for the same reasons. Bar and Books' premium flight is one of the cheapest ways to try some very expensive stuff- $60 for 6 half-ounce pours of anything on the menu. No it doesn't sound like much, but to me it's worth it to try some $500/bottle whisky without buying a bottle.

In Philadelphia, Ashton Cigar Bar has a great scotch, bourbon and rye selection (limited by the state system)- a ton of stuff that they got in special order as well. Stateside in south Philly has a great bourbon selection and not very expensive at all. Their stock probably isn't that deep, though, because they do sell out of the more limited stuff.

No I haven't. I heard good things about it and hope to visit in the future. You been ?

Unfortunatley no. Since I enjoy what I have at home, I do not look to outside bars much. I went to Tweeds in Riverhead some time ago and they had Pappy 15 and 20.

I don't remember more than that if you're out near Riverhead.

Yes I'm out this way and know Tweeds but haven't been there in quite a long while. Are the pours for Pappy reasonable or quite high ?

If I'm in Seattle I really like Zig Zag Cafe - ask for the captain's list. They do 1oz pours and have really good prices. Canon Seattle is also amazing - but it can be swamped with people and the list is actually over-whelming it is so extensive. Radiator Whiskey is also worth a stop - great food and a good list.

Atlanta doesn't have a lot of choices but Local 3 is a great stop with a large selection. They know their cocktails too.

I should mention if you are ever in Providence, Rhode Island make sure to check out New Harvest Coffee and Spirits. They are in downtown Providence and usually have a good selection including some limited edition bottlings at reasonable prices. The whisky is well displayed and the staff has decent knowledge (just don't expect them to keep up with any SB'ers). I hold my tastings there but don't any financial interest in them - they are just an oasis of whisky in the distilled desert that is Rhode Island.

Is there a secret password or anything? I've never been to Muss & Turner's, despite hearing good things - so might try to kill two birds with one stone :)

The Crunkleton in Chapel Hill, NC has a good selection of whiskey currently in production. They don't have older bottles, but the do lots of more recent limited edition bottlings. The prices aren't particularly low, however.

I'll second Eleanor's (although the cocktails start ot get a little pricey at $14 or so). Well made though and pretty good bourbon selection.

Lexington, KY - Bluegrass Tavern

Found a good one here in San Antonio - Whiskey Cake in La Cantera off I-10. (Try the whiskey cake along with a dram, it's delicious).
