johnnybogey
Some OS 7y and now on to some EC 12y.Nice. This has been my routine line up lately. Tonight, I am giving Booker's a try for the first time.
johnnybogey
Talk about don't judge a book by its cover. I was intimidated by Booker's for a long time, 130 proof and all. I must say, on the palate, this is a nice sweet bourbon followed by heat. Enjoyed it. BUT, back to SAOS7. Can't help myself.

Ravensfire
After some lighter stuff, finishing the night off with some OESK barrel proof with just a touch of water. And the bottle is nearly 2/3 gone and I only have one more spare in the stash. That's just not enough for how good this is!
kcgumbohead
Enjoyed some 4RGS OBSF deep toffee/chocolate notes with a slight hint of mint and cinnamon on the finish. JR hit a home run with this one. It reminds me of Heath bars and I love those, they always remind me of my mom as she liked them and introduced them to me as a kid. This is what I so enjoy about a really great bourbon experience, enjoying the wonderful flavor of a fine pour and enjoying some fine memories as well. Paul W
Had some SAOS 7, a 110 proof store selection. This was my first time with SAOS, which I had been hesitant about since it is an NDP and all. Wow, I really liked it. I am glad I kind of stocked up because this is one that I know I will continue to enjoy.I then had some dusty WT101 8-year. I have to say that this is fast becoming one of my top favorites of all time. Really fine stuff. I only have the one bottle and wish I had another in reserve, or 10. jbowl
The calories are directly related to the proof (bourbon has no other additives which can contribute calories/carbs). I use MFP as well, and created my own "foods" just at fairly common proof levels (80, 86, 92, 100, 107, 114, etc). Any 1oz pour of 90 proof bourbon will be 72 calories, compared to 92 calories for a 1oz of 114 proof. But they are worth the extra miles I recently bought a row machine so I can enjoy higher proof without getting fat. It's not working. Trying the Costco/Beam(whatever it is) 7 year. Alot better than I expected.

Dude - you could gain 20 lbs of fat and still be in better shape than 90% of us Enjoying a pour of a local private selection 1792. After being disappointed with the last one of these, I'm really impressed with this one.
Flyfish
Neighbor Dan came over to sip some of my bourbon this p.m. He drinks JD. Said he had recently tried some WT "57 proof" but found that it had no oomph. (Who among you is surprised that 57 proof bourbon might not have any oomph--if there were such a thing?) I poured him some VOB and 1792 just so he could compare the house style. When he wasn't looking, poured some WT101--which he thought was quite nice. Was surprised when I told him what it was. Asked him to bring some of that WT57 next time he comes over. He was even more surprised to hear that the JD he has been drinking for decades is 80 proof. Which only proves that you can't be fooled by the silly claims on the label if you never read the label. I am really looking forward to sipping some of his WT57. But maybe he didn't pay close attention to the label. You know how eensy teensy the numbers are on WT labels. I'm sure it will be a learning experience. GaryT
Moved on to an older Ezra Brooks (not sure what year, but I've bought more recent bottlings, and this is completely different in a great way). Little 200 mL that had a lot of dust on it, but post tax stamp/gov warning. Anywho - damn nice whiskey :yum:
youngmc
Couple of 10 year old 100 proofers tonight. Store select HMcKenna BIB followed by SAOS 10yr 100pf. That store select HM is a spice bomb. The SAOS is fruity in comparison. Is that a standard flavor profile for the higher aged MGP bourbons?
smokinjoe
Settling in to the garage and Braves on the radio with an OGD 114 following a dinner of stone ground grits with a chunk of butter and a fried egg on top and a side of bacon. This shit poor Seattle-like weather needs some comfort food and a great whiskey to take the chill off.
fozzy71
Can't seem to bring myself to enjoy this New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon neat (just tried another sip) so I put 2oz in a glass with 6oz of Diet Vernors to work on finishing it off some day. I might try some sweet vermouth and bitters with it next.

Just put myself on a diet, so self-cought Mutton Snapper, Quinoa, and a salad for me. At least my Mets are playing the Marlins, so I get to watch all the games this series. Good game so far. It was great last night.

DPPSmoker
I'm having my first ever pour of Blanton's tonight and I'm really regretting that it took this long to get around to.
fozzy71
I really need to grab a Blantons one of these days but I don't buy many bottles over $50. Maybe I will grab the next one I see after I polish off a few more bottles as my bunker is bigger than ever (for a noob) at the moment. Had another mixed NHBBB and Vernors but think it's time to switch back to something neat. Decisions decisions...... I think I might crack open that EC12 since I haven't had it in a while and I bunkered another one downstairs earlier today. *Edit: EC12 Oh how I missed you. Last time I had EC12 was that bacon infused bottle I destroyed and dumped down the drain. Edited April 18, 2015 by fozzy71
Ga Gator
Noah's Mill not bad I like it. It is kind of uninspiring. It has good flavor and I have no problem finishing it but for the money I will try something different next time. One main reason I wanted to try it is, it is always on the shelf. Mardbrown
I went up to the bar thinking I want something good. Stood there for 5 minutes scratching my head, scouring over LE's and ended up just pouring HH6/90. Just didn't feel like thinking about it anymore.
