suntour
Wasn't a purchase but a good friend brought over an 11 year OESF. I'm kind of shocked. And super happy of course, cause this puts me at 9 of the 10 recipes, but I'm on a regimented "finish a bottle before bringing in a new one" plan. Gotta knock something out before the wife gets home in T minus 1 hour 18 minutes. I think I can muster it:slappin:
dcbt
Thanks to a great SBer I amped up my ETL bunker today. I always feel uneasy when it dwindles down! Now I can pour peacefully.

Jazz Nut
I stopped at a few liquor stores on my way home from judging a middle/high school music festival, and found some bottles to bring home! 1 bottle of Kilkerran Bourbon Wood 2 bottles of Glenfarclas 105 (2013 bottle code, as I've heard more recent bottlings have gone down in quality) for $59, seemed like a good price 2 bottles of Stagg Jr. (66.05 ABV) for $49.99/ea 1 bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel 2006 version. I thought the 2005 just came out!! Picked it up anyway 1 bottle of Elijah Craig 12...well, just because 2 bottles of Fighting Cock 6 year, $10.99/ea
Master Distiller
Picked up a bottle of beam in a peculiar kind a way, at a yard sale? I was driving through town and seen a bunch of old decanters and decided to take a look at them. I always check for full ones when buying or looking at decanters. They were all beam decanters and all empty. The man said he had more in his garage and I asked if he had any full ones, he said one. I asked if hed be willing to sell it and he said he would. I asked how much and he said $20!! This bottle was made and filled in 1982 and the bourbon was made 8 years prior to that so that puts this bourbon at 41 years old to date. Had never been cracked. Now some will say a bourbon doesnt change once bottled, I highly disagree. A whiskey wont age anymore but the congeners will slowly turn to esthers over time through breathing if its a regular bottle thats not sealed with wax or a cork making the spirit much smoother. This bottle is proof of that, this is the best beam ive ever had and the price was a steal!

fishnbowljoe
I decided to buy a Batch #3 Stagg Jr to replace the one I finished not too long ago. When I got to the checkout and they went to ring it up, the price wouldn't come up. I told the girl what I paid for it ($59.99) when I bought my last one there. She said she'd have the price checked anyway. At first I was just a little upset. I changed my tune rather quickly when the guy checking the price said $46.99. Still, not wanting to ruin a relationship with a store I frequent a lot, I asked him to please check the price again. "Yep, $46.99." he said again. I said thank you very much, paid for my bottle and walked out a very happy camper. :woohoo: Every once in a while. :grin:Cheers! Joe

fishnbowljoe
An excellent price for an excellent bourbon. I would have bought three or four at that price. Nice score sir. Thanks F. There are a couple of reasons I didn't buy more than one bottle. Like I said before, it's pretty much my go to store any more, and I don't want to screw my relationship with that store up. The other reason is, a young man I used to coach in high school bowling a number of years ago is the liquor department manager there. He was off yesterday. He's a pretty decent guy, and I've tried to help him out some along the way. He's mentioned a couple of things to me recently that has led me to believe that he may finally be starting to understand some of the more intricate things going on in the bourbon/liquor business. We'll see. I hope to touch base with him again soon. I have a lot to talk to him about if he has the time. You are still thinking they mis-marked the price and don't want to take advantage of that. I would have done the same as you and only bought the one in that case. I once was charged standard Single Barrel price for a bottle of PS OBSK and being the honest guy that I am, corrected the cashier and paid the proper amount.
